Didn't wanna get a book off the shelf
Figured I'd watch some TV by myself
Before I could, I had to go for a stroll
To go and find that remote control

I looked for it both to and fro
Between the cushions, and on the bedroom floor
I even checked the coffee table drawer
But I couldn't find the remote control

Still can't find that remote control
Musta been sucked into a black hole
But I'll keep searchin' 'till I'm dead and old
For that TV remote control

Looked in the fruit bowl with the mangos
Even considered using the TV's dial
I just can't admit defeat now, oh no
I gotta find that remote control

I felt I'd soon become mentally ill
Broke down and grabbed a hundred dollar bill
Went to Best Buy with one single goal
To buy a universal remote control

Tried to program my remote control
To work my TV and my stereo
But I think that I am just too old
To understand what the manual told

Still like my old time remote control
If it's been lost, then God rest its soul
And if it's stolen, wait 'till I get ahold
Of the fool that stole my remote control

Look what I found in my popcorn bowl
My old friend, my remote control
Little gadget's worth it's weight in gold
Now I got two sweet remote controls

So glad I found my remote control
It's a beautiful thing to behold
Though it's tattered and it's kinda old
It's still my own remote control
