The Lyrics

While I was writing this, I was mostly concerned about making clever rhymes and matching the pace of the original. After I was done and re-read the whole thing, I realized ... this is *depressing*! But I decided to post it anyway as a warning to the young impressionable minds out there. Guys & girls, find a way to work for something you love, don't just collect a paycheck ... or else this will happen to you ...
In a grey and lonesome building in a nameless office park
I go marching to my cubicle, so featureless and stark
I get up before the sun and don't get home until it's dark ...

But my thoughts will soon be scattered and I'm feeling kinda dumb
I've been logging lots of overtime, my brain's completely numb
And I'm sick and tired of working; wish the weekend would just come ...

There I sit ... ev'ry day at work
Where I sit ... feels like a cage
Here I go ... trying not to shirk
There I go ... to earn my wage.

Well, I walk into the lunchroom, stumbling like I died
'Cause I feel as if my brains, just like potatoes, have been fried
But my stomach won't stop grumblin' from the emptiness inside ...

Most days I don't taste a thing until I'm half-way through
Then my jaw starts to ache, from the steak I try to chew
And I save the rest for later to re-sole my worn-out shoe ...

Here they come ... serving mystery meat
Think it's from ... the last ice age!
Up I'll throw ... it's too gross to eat
Back I'll go ... to earn my wage.

Finally, it's quitting time; I've got an aching head
Gotta fight the rush-hour traffic, seems like every light is red
'Til at last I make it home in time to stagger off to bed ...

Then tomorrow morning, out of bed again I'll climb,
As I struggle and I scramble for each dollar and each dime
Thru the weeks and months and years, until I clock out one last time ...

Here I come ... six men carry me
I'll succumb ... to old age
Here I'll lie ... when they bury me
Here I'll die ... to earn my wage!

You're right; it's depressing, but I'll give you 5 on funny anyway as you make some good points.

I think we work at the same place. 555
Finding a job you love is tough, because everyone else wants that job. I recommend just not working at a job that makes you miserable.

Humiyayu, is this your first parody? Excellent rhyming, perfect title sub, and though this parody is serious it's also funny. You earned these 5s. I think this would make a very good recording.
