The Lyrics

Using THE New York songwriter to honor THE Philly radio station? Somehow, it don't seem right. Sort of like putting mayonnaise on a cheesesteak. But it was too hard trying to find a workable rhyme for "Cataldi." And remember: That Phillies first baseman's name is pronounced "TOH-me." As in my parody, "Bring 'Em On Home, Thome."
You know what makes me smile? Know what lights up my eyes?
Turn to AM 610, and hear those morning guys!
Angelo Cataldi and Al Morganti!
Their sports talk is wild on Philly's WIP!

They say to the team owners, who always aggrieve you,
"You guys lie through your teeth, we can never believe you!"
This town ain't won a crown since 1983.
Yeah, we've all got a beef, we air them on WIP!

Oh, go and call up The Cuz.
Anthony Gargano, the mid-day is his time.
Oh, Glen Macnow has the buzz.
Rhea Hughes pitches in
and she's looking so fine.

And the Sixers looked great in the Garden and Spectrum
but the ownership they've got can't seem to direct 'em.
Funny stuff like that comes Graham, Big Daddy.
Blame it all on the refs, that's common on WIP.

Oh, Martorano is on.
Call up Steve if you want.
You're on hold all the time.
Oh, and you're having some fun
hearing Howard Eskin.
And Keith Jones blows your mind.

Philadelphia fans can be kind or be cruel.
But we tune to 610, 'cause we're nobody's fool
for the dish on McNabb, Iverson and Thome.
And the most they will do, they'll be cracking up you
'cause you're hooked on WIP.
Sorry, but I couldn't work in any mention of "Wing Bowl." I guess I'll have to do a sequel.

Hehe. I'm so used to hanging out in the video-game-mixing communities of OverClocked Remix and vgmix, where WIP is the accepted tla for "work in progress." I'm really amused, now, that there's a radio station named that.

you may as well have been talking Martian, Michael - all went completely over my head - maybe I'll wait for the sequel :)

I just noticed that my parody total has now reached 555. I like that number. I like it a lot. But, as Angelo himself would say, and lead us all in saying it... "Dallas sucks!"
