The Lyrics

'Nuff said.
Well you can tell by the way they play their game
They're the Stars in Stripes. Please don't explain.
The Team that Ruth Built right around here
Have been champions through many years.

It's all right and it's okay. The Mets can look the other way.
The Red Sox try to understand the New York Yankees' love for fans.

Whether it is Torre or whether it's Steinbrenner they're staying alive, staying alive.
Jealous rivals breaking and all their fans are shaking yet they're staying alive, staying alive.
New York Yankees staying alive, staying alive.
New York Yankees staying alive oh when they play!

Well, the Royals run, and the Angels hide
"Cause they know how much the Yankees tried.
With the Babe in them down to their shoes
They're a winning team and they just can't lose.

It's all right and it's okay. They gonna make it anyway.
The rivals try to take them down from taking the World Series crown.

Whether it is Torre or whether it's Steinbrenner they're staying alive, staying alive.
Jealous rivals breaking and all their fans are shaking yet they're staying alive, staying alive.
New York Yankees staying alive, staying alive.
New York Yankees staying alive oh!

They're goin' everywhere. Nothing can stop them.
Nothing can stop them no!

They're goin' everywhere. Nothing can stop them no!
They're staying alive.

Well you can tell by the way they play their game
They're the Stars in Stripes. You can't explain.

New York Yankees staying alive oh!

They're goin' everywhere. Nothing can stop them.
Nothing can stop them no!

They're goin' everywhere. Nothing can stop them no!
They're staying alive.

This song came out between the Yankees' 1977 and '78 World Championship seasons, and I can't think of anything else I've hated for 28 years. Here's hoping that, if Alex Rodriguez is stayin' away, 'cause that's his best chance of stayin' alive!

Entertaining parody, Ana, but please explain "Angels hide" line. In the Joe Torre era (10 years), the Angels have beaten the Yankees more than visa versa.

as an Aussie, the material goes over my head, but tightly-paced - 555
