The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico was heavily damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The already shaky electrical grid was knocked out and power is only slowly being restored. A lot of the people may be forced to relocate to the mainland.

The OS was a downer and right for this parody. 5 for pertanant rather than funny
"Pertinent" might be a good substitute for the rating category of "Funny". As you noted, the original song is one of loss and nostalgia. I thought it was a good fit to the subject of my parody.
