Song Parodies -> "Mondegreen"

Original Song Title:

Original Performer:

Barbra Streisand

Parody Song Title:

Parody Written by:

John Dacey

The Lyrics

Songs, heard over broadcast air
Words, hearing what’s not quite there
One word that’s misheard as two
Lyrics gone askew
Like a phrase garbled beyond repair
As long as you sing it with great flare
I’d rather hear mondegreens
Than the words as new
Do or die I’ll
Let each lyric cursed
Bad enough to be sinning
Far from right those mistakes get only worse
Confused to recite ‘em
‘Cause we’ve got a blighted love
Homonyms sound the same
Make it hard to get right the names
Lines, language we misconstrued
Lines, undeciphered by me and you
They’re wrong for ever, mondegreens

I had to look twice, I thought your song was called Monkey Grass

>I thought your song was called Monkey Grass< There are many people who do. Mondegreens are where you find them!

There was a 1960's remake of "I've Got Rhythm" by The Happenings, which we all thought started with "Tits, tits, tits, tits". "Mondegreen" sounds a bit like "Mondragon", a Mexican automatic rifle from the early 1900's.

'Scuse me while I give you fives ... Isnt that a parody of the most famous Mondegreen of all, Man?

Sincere thanks to all who took time to comment. >a parody of the most famous Mondegreen of all, Man?< Yeah, that corruption of Jimi is among the most important in the canon. Easily deserving of its Pullet Surprise.
