The Lyrics

As if the freeways didn't already move slow enough....
Got onto the southbound 405 at Sunset
Couldn't get off 'cus the exits were all blocked
All those protesters from Hollywood
USC and Westwood
Were flocked, were all flocked

Seems there ain't no brains in Southern California
Only marchers out protesting by the score
There ain't no brains in California,
Just signs that inform ya:
"No war, no Bush war!"

Just off work, I need that freeway
But I won't be getting on today
They're laying down! They're in my way!
I wanna go home!

There ain't no brains in California,
Just signs that inform ya:
"No war, no Bush war!"

Will you tell the folks at home I'm stuck in traffic
There's banners that all say "No War for Oil"
Please just tell the kids that maybe
Their Dad'll be home Friday
He's embroiled - stuck in this coil

Seems there ain't no brains in Southern California
Only marchers out protesting by the score
There ain't no brains in California,
Just signs that inform ya:
"No war, no Bush war"

Most of the brains from Southern California have moved here to Nevada

Great parody - this be a brainless city also!

Drove that burg for way too long. Always welcome a slam of LA.

Compared to Berkeley, SoCal is like MIT compared to a kindergarten.... ;)

I assume that one of you (Pip, most likely, judging by The Great Squirrel Debate) finds three syllables in "embroiled". Granted the usual first-month-on-site slack, very good despite some minor mis-stresses, etc. (I can't afford a mis-stress, heh heh!), and fraught with promise of greater things to come. :) :) :)

btw, if there *were* any brains in the Southland, Ohio, or Australia, the freeway traffic would move "slowly", not "slow" ... j/k.

You know Tommy, looking back over it, I think I wrote the entire thing solo. I went one day to pick up a check from a customer (a yuppie with money) and while standing on his porch ringing the doorbell, I actually see a couple of homemade protest signs leaning against the house beside the door that read "No War For Oil!" and I'm thinking, "for cryin' out loud, is that an SUV I see in your driveway?" That moment inspired this parody.

Re: Slow - sometimes you just have to leave a button unbuttoned and talk like the common folk... ;)

LOL @ sign and SUV! Like Al Gore running around in his private jet urging us all to conserve energy, stop burning fossil fuels, etc. -- while he lives in a humongous mansion that must cost a fortune in "carbon footprint" to heat and cool.

(pssst! the "j/k" after the grammar comment stands for "just kidding". Kind keep that in mind. (I'd have said "Kindly", but the thought of another shell-ache-ing -- j/k. ;-D

For the record, I like my women with as many buttons unbuttoned as possible, so keep on keeping on (or off).
