The Lyrics

There are many versions of this blues-rock classic, but this is based on Aerosmith's classic live version, tailor-made for Below Average Dave's special Artistry competition.
Well on the train, I met a dame,
Tried to convo, she seemed real game
Started pretty, in New York City
But soon as we hit the train track plain
She would bleat, on and on
And I just couldn't stop her, so

The babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
I wished she, would just go
But there wasn't any place to go, so-so-so!

Yeah, it was long, monologue was big like King Kong
On the train, was her song, "American Pie" kind of long
On the train,
She was sweet, like a dove
But she would just carry on so, oh, oh, oh!

Still on the train, the game's the same
She talked of exes, and her macrame
She was chatty, it drove me batty
Her jawin' drove me near insane
Talked of meat, talked of gloves
And I just couldn't get in, Oh,

Because the babe kept a-yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
In her speech, lots of flow
And I couldn't stop her to say to just go blow!

Blabbed so long, she was a ringin' like a bell's ding-dong
All the day, all night long, those vocal chords still stayed strong
All the way
Ears in pain, I'm in love
And I just couldn't stop her

Well, my train had stopped where I go to work
I said to the babe, "No this just won't work!"
I got a shock, she pulled her hair back
She had a Bluetooth, I hadn't seen it, whoa!
She was talking to her cousin Jo!

That's why the babe kept a-yakkin all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Babe kept a yakkin' all night long
Ain't that sweet? How tricked up!
But she gave me her number!

I have to add that every time a story takes place on a train I need to think of the 1950's B-Movie, "The Narrow Margin", and I'm sure a Popular Culture whiz such as yourself can appreciate that.

"American Pie kind of long"..... hehehehe, like that one! Great twist ending too. DKTOS, but it looks pretty tight so I'm guessing the pacing is spot-on. Nice job, Agrimorfee!

(Artistry) Someone docked the pacing a point, I have to say I disagree, the pacing was VERY tight. Your ability to match rhyme scheme is absolutely superb Agri, and it was funny to boot. Nothing negative to say here, just all around good job.

(Artistry) At least yakking is preferable to the GRUNTING of some men...but great job here. ;)

Artistry- I think I met this woman before. Many times. Great twist at the end. I don't know how many times I thought someone was talking to me and was actually on some kind of phone. Great stuff, Agri.

SOTM - Should have given her that quote from DeNiro in Midnight Run "I got two words for you. Shut the f**k up!" Yeah, I too have know a few women like that, and that was before the proliferation of cell phones. 555

SOTM - I can appreciate this one on a whole new level since my marriage break up! I never fully understood songs like "Sounds Of Silence" or "Silence Is Golden" until the nagging, non stop chatter & arguments were gone. lol Funny 555

Agrimorfee, I suggest you try and find a copy of "On again! On again!" by Jake Thackray: and anyone else, too - if you like this parody, you'll love the Thackray.
