The Lyrics

This parody is based on the Dead Parrot sketch from Monty Python.
**Customer**
I'd hate to inform you that this parrot's dead
This is the best you could find? This must come to an end
**Cashier**
Look at him now, You see, he's breathing!
**Customer**
But can't you just see that he's not living at all??
Inanimate, it has no soul
**Cashier**
Just one minute, thought I heard the bell ring
Another customer!
**Customer 1**
Hey you, can't you see, o-o-o-oh

**Customers 1 & 2**
Mamma mia, this parrot is dead!
My my, what the heck's wrong with you?
And this parrot's lying on its back
My my, this parrot has passed 'way!
**Customer 1**
No, I can't hear its heartbeat
Bird's dead, it has departed
My my, it is not alive no more
Mamma mia, do you really know
When they're dead when they're brought to the stores?

**Customer 2 leaves**

**Customer 1**
I've been angry and sad about the things that you do
I can't count all the birds that expire too soon
Its eyes are closed, I don't hear it snore
I think that it's dead, that bird didn't live too long
You know I'm not happy at all
**Cashier**
Just one minute, thought I heard the bell ring
Another customer!
**Customer 1**
Hey you, can't you see, o-o-o-oh

**Customers 1 & 3**
Mamma mia, this parrot is dead!
My my, what the heck's wrong with you?
And this parrot's lying on its back
My my, this parrot has passed 'way!
**Customer 1**
No, I can't hear its heartbeat
Bird's dead, it has departed
My my, it is not alive no more
Mamma mia, do you really know
When they're dead when they're brought to the stores?
**Customers 1 & 3**
Sir, this parrot, it has passed away
Bye bye, come back again never
mamma mia, this thing's passed away
It's late, doesn't live forever

**Customer 1**
Mamma mia, this parrot is dead!
My my, what the heck's wrong with you?
And this parrot's lying on its back
My my, this parrot has passed 'way!
No, I can't hear its heartbeat
Bird's dead, it has departed
My my, it is not alive no more
Mamma mia, do you really know
When they're dead when they're brought to the stores?

This was decent, Chris, and I applaud your diligence. I think it could have used more quotes from the sketch, like "shuffled off the mortal coil--it is an ex-parrot!!!!", etc. Still great idea and execution, perfect pacing. A song about Silly Walks next, maybe? d;:^)

I'll agree with Bob on this one: it's very good, and very well executed, but I'd love to have seen more of the lines from the sketch used...

Bob - does this one pass muster, then: http://www.amiright.com/parody/70s/queen98.shtml (he says in a bit of shameless self-promotion).. Say, do you think there's a "silly walks" parody to Aerosmith's "Walk This Way"?

Funny topic, but too much pacing and rhyme was sacrificed in the process...2-5-3.
