The Lyrics

I liked this movie. (The Johnny D. here is not the parody writer.)
Rented a movie
Starred Johnny D
Popped in my player
Then I suddenly see

Scary man with the scissor hands
What a punk rockin' man
Those scissor hands

Edward's not too pretty
But his hairdos are in demand
Women throughout the city
Get the cut of scissor hands

Burton directs
Ryder inspects
Elfman does score
And there's not much gore

Scary man with the razor hands
What a strange actin' man
Those scissor hands

Scary man with the razor hands
What a bush trimmin' man
Those scissor hands

Rick, we do have a lot in common. This was one of my favorite Who songs AND, I listened to a few of your recordings yesterday. What did I find? The Banana Man!!! Almost nobody I've mentioned him to, remembers the Banana Man out here on the East Coast. I sure do though! I think he traumatized me for years! In fact, I do quite a good impersonation of him (if I do say so myself). I'll check out more of your songs later. Rick C

My wife Mari wrote that one, and she was a big fan. One of the reasonsshe wrote it is because not many people remembered him. I'll have her drop you a note, because she's thrilled when someone appreciates that song. When we get back from Seattle, I'll drop you a private note about sending you a CD of some of our stuff. We've done a few projects with Amirighters. I liked what I heard of you, also, and your bio says you're a Fab lover. Syncronicity on opposite coasts. And if you have a chance to meet Johhny D (near you), let me know. He's a faraway bud, also.

And, of course, this brings to mind one of my favorite Arsenio Hall jokes. "These are not jokes, these are just things that make you go, 'Hmmmm...' For example: How does Edward Scissorhands go to the bathroom?" Chunky A told that joke three years before it was told on "Seinfeld."

Rick C, I haven't been around amiright for a while, but Rick D keeps me posted. He's also played some of your stuff for me and I really like it. And he said that I had to see your comments on this one. I always get a kick out of hearing from another Banana Head. He was a real trip, and one of my favorite childhood characters. Sometimes when I perform the song, a person will come up to me with the same comments as you, that no one else they knew remembered him. Well, in case you didn't know, there are now two Banana Man web sites -- http://www.charliethejugglingclown.com/BananaMan.htm and http://alpha.furman.edu/~bryson/BananaMan/index.html -- Word is spreading!
