Parody Song Title:

"I'm a Copycat"

Parody Written by:

Rick Duncan

The Lyrics

Ode to mimics.
I'm a copycat! Whoa, whoa
I'm a copycat! Whoa, whoa
Copycat, copycat
I'm just waiting
And imitating
The things you do
I'm a big fan of that Rich Little copycat pro
Copycat, copycat
I'll do you
Your voice, too
I do a copycat show!

I'm a copycat! Whoa, whoa
I'm a copycat! Whoa, whoa
Copycat, copycat
What you're saying
I'm now displaying
A clone of you
If you should die I could probably stand in your place
Copycat, copycat
Just like you
Twins, us two
Me with my copycat face

I'm a copycat! Whoa, whoa
I'm a copycat! Whoa, whoa
Copycat, copycat
It's my gift thing
I love shape shifting
To be like you
I'll soon be living in my little copycat home
Copycat, copycat
Live like you
Just like new

Me with my copycat style
Me with my copycat smile
Me with my copycat wile

Meeoooww!!!

Geminis tend to be mimics - just look at you and me, Highlander, and all the parodies we crank out ... what's a parody but mimicry of somebody else's song?

Is there an echo in here? 555

Johnny, when I was in my younger recording days, I used to redo Beatle songs as if done by other artists (before the parodies) I have "Two of Us" in the style of the B-52's, "Eight Days a Week" like the Rolling Stones, and "Hard Days Night" like Stephan Stills, and a bunch of others. Mari even did "I Me Mine" opera style. Oh, and the only possible way to do "Yesterday" is punk rock. Very funny.

Nice one Rick-good name for a band, " the Copycats ", except we already have it taken ( and it is copywrited ). We also have a side band going called " the Uncopywritables ". 555.

copycat...def....Noun.....a cat with a badge and an attitude
the Uncopywritables ( Red Ant ) - April 06, 2005 - Report this comment
Yeah, but we don't worry about that one because our name says it all ( it's like trying to "Copywright Powdered Water", which is one of our tunes set to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" ). May see it here in the future ( that is if Stuart's band doesn't post it first ). :)

Careful, Rick, somebody might post the exact same song under their own name. Reminds me of the episode of "Hercules" where Herc was asked to judge an art contest. There was Picassus and Pollockus... Warholus did Hercules as pop art, but the guy next to him just painted the exact same thing. His name was Xerox. (It was a lighthearted show, so it could be a little more tongue-in-cheek than "Xena," which was intentionally darker.)

Good one, Rick. :)

As God is my witness, my band only ever posts thing second, Red Ant, or our name isn't the Copycats

.....which it isn't

Very well done, Rick. I hadn't heard the name Rich Little in a while, so I checked the internet, and was glad to read that he is still producing those wonderful facsimiles.

My band , The Uncopywriteables ( spelling mistake intended ) is like Nine Inch Nails--it's just me ( one of the names I had for a band name a long time ago ). PS--Tomorrow or the next day you will see that parody.
Red Ant - April 07, 2005 - Report this comment
Hehe, just realized that it ISN'T misspelled.
Stuart McArthur - April 07, 2005 - Report this comment
look forward to it Red Ant - and I just realised I made a spelling mistake (or omission) in my post too - hmm, I really AM a copycat who posts first :(
Red Ant - April 07, 2005 - Report this comment
And last.....oh wait a sec, by me posting I am last! We had two versions of this actually, BOTH of which will be seen tomorrow or the next day. And I was wrong one the correction, it is " Uncopyrightable ", which according to some is non-sensical, but still cool ( and make it plural as in a band name and you get a 16 letter word that repeats no letters ). :)
