The Lyrics

One of my favorite Who songs, many have done this already. But I had to do it because, because, because, because, because....
Ever since I went ballooning, I've ruled them here in Oz
In this here Em'rald City, I've felt the big applause
But now I have to split now, I've loaded up the van
That cute little farm girl
Proved I'm a big con man

I used to be the big cheese, I used to have the green
A harem of eight Munchkins, who'd do things so obscene
I used to be the top dog, now I'm an also-ran
That smart little farm girl
Proved I'm a big con man

He's a con man wizard
As Dorothy can see
A con man wizard
Has one wide screen T.V

Now you know how he did it
(One light show)
Making him look good

When people came to see me, I stood behind the wall
I yelled into the P.A., and scared them, short or tall
Her stupid dog exposed me, it wasn't in the plan
That bratty little farm girl
Proved I'm a big con man

He's a con man wizard
He made them get a broom
The con man wizard
Now better clear the room

I've got to get my ass out, I'm leaving here by noon
From belching all my hot air, I've filled the damn balloon
I better blow this town, before it hits the fan
That cute little farm girl
Proved I'm a big con man
Who are we? Hee hee-hee hee.

Cute... is this from the musical "Ozzy" by any chance?

Excellent Rick. Wonder how they like this one in Kansas? Anyone out there from Kansas. (Hears sparse applause).

For some reason I started 'singing' this song to that Johnny Cash song Folsom Prison Blues. The first two verses worked perfectly until I got to the chorus and that almost worked. I had to stop, re-hum my head and start over with the right tune. Either way it's great.

"Now I have to split now"? As in, "Tonight I'm gonna rock you tonight"? It's tough to find good lyrics "in this ever-changing world in which we live in." And how did the Wizard get a big-screen TV... in 1939??? Did Buster Crabbe leave the "Flash Gordon" set and head over to the MGM lot with a little futuretech? (Or a big futuretech?) And Claude, would that be A Room Full of Flying Monkeys? And Guy, please don't do "Folsom Prison Blues" with a "Wizard of Oz" theme. There's more than enough gay references in both prison material and Judy Garland fan comments.

Michael, You got me. I can't believe my wife didn't nail that boo-boo first. As for the big TV, how would you describe that apparition the Wiz used? A hologram? A white 'shroom hallucination? You got me on the grammar, let me have my artistic metaphor. I actually parodied the entire MGM movie, and I make plenty of hip modern references, so I didn't think much odd about it. I wanted to ask Chuckie if there was a way here to post the whole thing.

If I may make a suggestion for part of the lyrics: I thought I was The Oz land's real king But now I've had it My secret's just been seen...
