The Lyrics

....an early rolling stones song ABOUT the present day rolling stones...
they're the kind of persons...that need, for certain
geriatric care
singin' for a crowd...that's no longer wowed
cause the band has lost its flair
well, it seems to me...they're elderly
and have been such for years
mick's voice had died...and keith's plain fried
both past their prime, i fear

they need to stop...hangin' 'round
hoary bums...hoary bums...hoary bums...hoary bums
these bums are ninety, sure to break down

when i was a child...how they drove me wild
and how they caused my parents fright
and yes, i still enjoyed....as a teenage boy
i found them quite alright
those rockers were a wreckin' crew
and they took it to the max
but they ought to stop performin' now
and finally just relax

they need to stop...hangin' 'round
hoary bums...hoary bums...hoary bums...hoary bums
these bums are ninety, sure to break down

old...age...to...blame
to...go...on....insane
they're wealthy enough...no need to work
their concerts, bad...and their albums, worse
oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

some still think 'em cool....but they're all been fooled
can't leave their youth behind
a spark, they lack...i've turned my back
though that may seem unkind
they once were hip...they've fallen hard
you think not ?...you are blind
yes, i got wise...so now these guys
won't get this cash of mine

they need to stop...hangin' 'round
hoary bums...hoary bums...hoary bums...hoary bums
these bums are ninety, sure to break down
these bums are ninety, sure to break down
these bums are ninety, sure to break down

Sad but true.

I can't get no... without traction... You can have this five if you use that title for a new one!
McKludge - January 24, 2008 - Report this comment
yeah, one of these days it will be a touring catastrophe, with Mick throwing out his back while strutting around the stage, or Keith's head just falling off altogether. 555

Very funny. I love bashing old rockers. I think Keith Richards has actually been dead for more than two years. It's just nobody has the heart to tell him.

Sir Richards will always be my favorite rocker, despite his ' roadkill ' looks ! He's married to the same Lady for many decades, he's a tax-paying US citizen, and I'm happy for him with his new gig as a Pirate!!! Go Keith !

Heh heh, good one. I must be sure to bring this to Merry's attention!

thanks john , michael, mckludge, IB, agri and little RockCake....to be honest, i saw the stones just a couple of years back and it was wildly entertaining....but they haven't made a good record for over 25 years in my opinion

Awwww..Alvie, Alvie, Alvie... the Stones always have been and always will be the greatest Rock and Roll Band around. I have to admit that I haven't heard any of their stuff lately, but 25 years? Everything thru Steel Wheels at least was excellent. And Ronnie (pseudo-Stone tho' he may be) is still every bit as sexy at 60 as he was at 25.... :-)

thanks merry...personally i thought "tattoo you" was the last stones album with merit...though i did like "continental drift" on 'steel wheels"
Meriadoc - January 25, 2008 - Report this comment
I think Tattoo You was their best album ever. As for Steel Wheels, the ballad "Almost Hear You Sigh" was lovely, if a bit Mickish...

i will say that ANY stones album is better than mick's solo work
