The Lyrics

First Motown song to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. Coverd by The Beatles on their "With The Beatles" album, genders reversed. #1 again in 1975 by The Carpenters. OS lyrics here.

(Stop!)
Oh, y'all, take a minute; read our post, Man
(Read)
*And* women: both, fan!

Please read our post, and you will see
(Oh, Yeah!)
Fine fare that's better than a gag or three
(Tease, tease: Biggest Posting)
We've been workin' such a long time
(Oy! Whew!)
To bring it here, such a joy so fine

You must be right here Wednesday
For our project, put on display
Please, boy and girl fans, brook TT
He writes unfettered (and *maybe* FG?!)

Folks will stand in line, waitin'; that's no boast, man
So patently:
TT's the Bard; FG is better
Five-in', yours, we're earnin', hopefully!

(Mister Host-man)
Chucky, Host, man, thanks to thee
(All: Yeah!)
We're in your debt for takin' shag from me
(These peas in a pod can -- )
-- Till brains, achin', such a song line --
(Oh, wow!)
Agree, it's clear: minds employ; combine!

So many weeks, worked, she and I
To be out-standin' in your eyes
FG, TT: a team, even better
And weavin' we: so careful, each letter!

(AmIRight fan)
AmIRight can look and see
(Yee-haa!)
A record-setter, and no gag, that be
(Please, please, take a close scan)
Wednesday, wait, to read our long rhyme

(Why don't you check the marquee; read our rhyme:such sweet ... sonata!)
Wit, in-fin-ite
Some sin in it
Violin: it
Soon, begin it
(It's the most, man)
Coast to coast, plan; we'll emcee

(Y'know, TT's the top vetter; you'll laugh till eyes: wetter)
Roast or toast, plan!

Don't fret, we'll read it. Thought this was going to be about a postman who won't deliver to your house.

That's funny - a promo parody for your upcoming project. I'll be checking in on the 30th.

alvin: (lol) thanks.

Andy Primus: Thought this might be a more clever (not to say, self-serving) switch, but that's just MHO. ... Warning: There will be further promos on Monday and Tuesday, so if that offends you, no need to read. Thanks for v/c.

Timmy1000: Thanks! Glad you found it funny -- and could you maybe chat a bit with Andy P? :D :D

Partner In Rhyme: I'm *very* excited! ... and sorta' lookin' forward to postin' the Project, too. ;)

Another first for the Tortoise - A trailer for a parody. Gotta be a first here.

OK I'm pretty sure it's not going to be any of these things that happened on Sept 30th of various years in history:

1791 Mozart's opera The Magic Flute premiered in Vienna, Austria.

1927 Babe Ruth hit his 60th home run. The record stood until Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961. Mark McGwire beat Maris's record in 1998 by hitting 70 and Barry Bonds topped this in 2001 with 73.

1938 Britain and France surrendered to Germany's demands concerning the Sudetenland, and signed the Munich Pact.

1946 Twenty-two Nazi leaders were found guilty at the Nuremberg trials.

1949 The Berlin Airlift came to an end.

1955 Actor James Dean was killed in a car crash.

1966 Botswana gained its independence from Great Britain.

Or is it going to be that Botswana thingy - Botswana has a funny ring to it - that's it ain't it? Gotcha!

I'm looking forward to it, and I know it's going to be amazing.

Guy: A first? TT scored a *first*? :D :D :D .. as for the subject matter, you are sooo close, with one of those ... not gonna say which one, of course ;) ... see ya there! ... oh, and there'll be a "second" and a "third" (promo for the project) on Mon and Tue -- fair warning. :D

John Barry: We sure as heck hope so, or it's a month of our lives that we'll never get back... Thanks for the vote of confidence, and we'll try to live up to it. Here're front-row tickets for opening night, and looking forward to seeing you there. Thanks for v/c (vote of confidence? Fine coincidence!)

We can't wait---we can't wait! For that Oh-nine-30 date!
Your promotion's caused commotion
And proved to be 'master bait'!

Too funny! Write on!

OK TT - Rock on Jimmy Dean - I shall await the premier with much enthusiasm. Is there any way I can get my hands on a back stage pass for the event? =;-)

I'll never miss your post, Man! LOL!! Looking forward to 9/30! You and Fiddlegirl are going to do great! Great promo parody! I just hope I don't get grounded on that day (j/k)! 555 and ditto on Guy's comment!

AFW: Well, I guess that's better than most of the idiotic, non-creative advertising that one sees these days, eh? :) Thanks for v/c!

Guy: I think if you want to get your hands on FG's back stage, you'd best ask her yourself, although I tend to be kind of protective of my line-up of creative talent. (kidding! kidding! kidding!) :D

Christie Marie M: No computer on the ground where you get grounded? Is it a dungeon, or what? ;) ;) ;) .... Ditto Guy, eh? Ah, finally my *own* back-stage groupies! Yes, yes, m'dear, come to my dressing room -- but don't let FG see us, 'k? She gets soooo jealous! :D ... thanks for v/c, CMM -- see ya there!

Thought yer litty dittle deserved a reply of its own -- *especially* after awarding TT the coveted "Master Baiter" award! I'd like to thank the Academy of (self-) Abuse, and all of those who made this possible... (sniff...) ...including Hewe Heifer and his flocks of folds. Thanks for v/c, and see ya at the gala premiere!

Oh, no! Another bailout? This one or the USPS? Well, if that's what it takes to deliver another FG-TT collaboration, what's a few more billion in funny money. Right? 555 in the black
Tommy Turtle - September 26, 2009 - Report this comment
metaphorsbwithu: For once, TT's completely at a loss -- "bailout"? "billion in funny money? Sorry -- a sea turtle's brain is roughly the size of a pea. Appreciate the time to read and comment; explain to the dimwit, please? :)
metaphorsbwithu - September 26, 2009 - Report this comment
TT - Oh, don't feel bad, that was a little vague. I was just referring back to the OS and the news that the current US Post Office is in line for a $4 billion bailout since it's in the red again. I was saying in a clumsy way that giving a bailout to the "Post Man' might be worth it if it meant delivering more song parodies from TT and FG. ;-)

OK, this better not be a big letdown like the y2k thing. ;-) Looks like everything is peachy with the dynamic duo. I guess breaking up IS hard to do. :-D

Looking forward to 9/30, this has got to be the longest parody in the history of parody-dom! Record setting huh? As per Guy, and knowing TT, I'm betting this has something to do with the Magic Flute. ;-)
Tommy Turtle - September 27, 2009 - Report this comment
metaphorsbwithu: Sorry, the "Post-office" ref went completely over my head (not very high for a turtle crawling on the ground), esp. since the meaning had been switched completely away from that for the parody. ... As a taxpayer, I'd rather we keep our $4 billion, and I promise that parodies will still be delivered. Thanks for clarifying. ;-)

blackjack21: If you knew how many sunrises I've seen from the wrong side... how many hours altogether, and I'm sure the same for FG. At the present time, there are over 200 drafts in the folder (I just looked). If it *is* a letdown, we've lost a month of our lives that we'll never get back....

As for writer-writer relations, let me just say that even if I regarded her as Osama Bin Laden's mistress, I'd still be d*mned if I'm going to flush that much work down the toilet over "creative differences" -- or any other kind. ... Unfortunately, I already have a pre-debut "thank you" trib in the tank, finished last week before said "differences", and I'm not one to waste a completed parody. Ars gratia artis, and all that.

Anyone fading ya on that bet? :D
blackjack21 - September 27, 2009 - Report this comment

I don't anticipate anything close to a letdown from this project. The only letdown I see are all the lame parodies we'll submit after it that will pale in comparison. ;-)

As for the other stuff, that's between the two writers. You're both extremely talented whether you're working together or on your own. Differences aren't uncommon in that situation.

No action on that bet, looks like "Magic Flute" is the chalk, though this probably isn't your Mozart's Magic Flute. Word is the wiseguys are waiting for the injury report to come out on Tuesday. :-D
FG @ TT - September 27, 2009 - Report this comment
Now, was all that really necessary?

It should be noted to everyone concerned that TT's just grouchy because he discovered that the sun has *been* coming up for years without him there to supervise the sunrise. Ignore him.

BTW, so far, we've chosen to spare you the sordid details. But all will be revealed in this week's posts!
TT @ FG - September 27, 2009 - Report this comment
Oh, yeah, let the pus- I mean, the cat out of the bag...It's *just like a woman, to spill all of the sordid details, just to get a little attention to a post or two. AIR our dirty linguery in public, will ya? Can't keep *anything* private! Hmmph! Women! :P
