Original Song Title:

"Fire"

Parody Song Title:

"Wires"

Parody Written by:

Porfle Popnecker

The Lyrics

I am the guy the pros hire
And I bring you

Wires
On Blu-Rays we burn
Wires
You'd think that we'd learn

You'll see the wires

You worked hard for effects inspired
But now they can see the wires

All your planes and flying foes
Your rocketships and UFOs
In HD, all to see
Remastered to the nth degree

Oh no
Oh no
Oh no
The wires return

Wires
On which Mothra suspends
Wires
Yes, they once were your friends

I bring you wires

You suspended on them everything
While depending they'd remain unseen

Thunderball, jet planes in flight
And puppet monsters in the night
Hidden on, movie screen
But not so Blu-Ray, it's obscene

Ooh

Wires
On Blu-Rays we burn
Wires
It's not our concern

They will return
You'd think we'd learn
Don't give a durn, durn, durn, durn, durn, durn
Ah ha ha ha, ahh ha ha haha

Wires
To make people think
Wires
Your SFX stink
Wires
Use CG instead

That's funny, Porfle! Reminds me of Thunderbirds, occasionally you could see the wires, but in a strange way in made it more fun :)

Nice- 555!!! I never got into Godzilla b/c of the obvious rubber suits and visible wires for flying scenes plus the toy tanks... but relented and enjoyed "Ultraman" instead! SPFX have come along way in this digital age of CG manips, but the old models, full-size props, exposed wires, etc... were fun back in the day.

Thanks, your comments really have me "wired"! Get it? I used the word "wired"!

Reminds me of the time when I was four years old and thought that Rodan was actually going to attack Kansas City. I can still picture the nightmare I had of Godzilla stomping down Minnesota Avenue. When I grew up I found out that a misguided and corrupt city council could do far more damage to Minnesota Avenue than any mutant lizard ever imagined.

Interesting concept. I don't watch movies (in any way, shape or form) so never realized that remastered images showed up stuff that wasn't supposed to be seen - funny! (And BTW, you owe me big time for making me listen again to an OS that I preferred to forget existed...)

In 3D , the wires must really stand out...Look Out for that giant wire...AHhhhhhh!!! - There's nothing wrong with your wiring here,though....earns you some major 5's

Patrick--I wasn't that young but I did get to see Rodan in the theater when it was new. Meriadoc--you're welcome! One of the worst offenders is George Pal's "War of the Worlds." You used to not be able to see the wires holding up the cool-looking Martian war machines but now they're very obvious. Dave--thanks! I actually haven't even seen one of the new 3D movies yet since I rarely go to the theater anymore. I did get to see stuff like Creature From the Black Lagoon, Friday the 13th 3D, and Andy Warhol's Flesh for Frankenstein in the old-style 3D, though.

In Austin Power's 3rd movie "Goldmember" the wire gag is done with Fat Bastard b/c he's a sumo wrestler in Japan. I thought that was creative and funny (one of his wires breaks mid-air flying sequence)!
