The Lyrics

There's a time for everything
Turn every page (Turn Turn, Turn)
Life has a reason (Turn, Turn, Turn)
Can't buy time when any person's number's pending

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to eat
A time to hurt, a time to heal
A time to laugh, A time to weep

Turn every page (Turn, Turn, Turn)
Life has a reason, (Turn, Turn, Turn)
Can't buy time when any person's number's pending

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time of chance, a time of storms
A time to blast away stones, a time to hammer stones forever

Turn every page (Turn, Turn, Turn)
Life has a reason (Turn, Turn, Turn)
Can't buy time when any person's number's pending

A time of joy, a time of fate
A time to start, a time to cease
A time you'll be replaced, a time to explain for replacing

Turn every page, (Turn, Turn, Turn)
Life has a reason (Turn, Turn, Turn)
Can't buy time when any person's number's pending

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time of friends, a time of foes
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I fear it's just too late

I was listening to the original song in 1968 during the Kansas City riots. The disk jockey said as the song ended, "And now would not be too soon". The line, "a time to hammer stones forever" has an ominous sound to those of us who fear the curtailment of freedom under the incoming administration.
