The Lyrics

I have been killing myself over this one for a while...trying to make it better...but I finally decided to just submit it and get it over with.
Running to the dock at the Ferry,
Trying to get our asses to Bree
The Riders in Black they were hot on our tracks
And on the way we grabbed Pippin and Merry

Oh, you know it ain't easy
Who knew how hard it would be?
The way things are going
I wish somebody'd kill me!

Joined a Fellowship due to Elrond
Ditched the greater part by the end
But Sam's on my ass just like a love smitten lass
Sometimes I wonder if he's "more than a friend"

Oh, you know it ain't easy
Who knew how hard it would be?
The way things are going
I wish somebody'd kill me!

Oh, we met a creepy creature named Gollum
Talking to himself like a freak
Conversations a snore, he knows the way to Mordor
I said, "We'll follow for a couple weeks"

Oh, you know it ain't easy
Who knew how hard it would be?
The way things are going
I wish somebody'd kill me!

Saving up our Lembas for the journey home
Rationing for him and for me
Last night dear Sam said,
"Wish Gollum were dead
He just wants to kill you 'Cause he's SO-OH sick!"

Flew out of Mordor on an eagle
Less a finger and half my mind
What Aragorn said...went to Pippin's head
He only said it so he'd look kind

Oh, you know it ain't easy
Who knew how hard it would be?
The way things are going
I wish somebody'd kill me!

Caught a stocky horse to Hobbiton
All in all it wasn't so bad
The guys at the pub said, "We thought you were dead,
We sold your house to Peregrin's dad"

Oh, you know it ain't easy
Who knew how hard it would be?
The way things are going
I wish somebody'd kill me!

The way things are going
I wish somebody'd kill me!

Extremely good, Arwen - but I thought Bag End went to the Sackville-Bagginses, not the Tooks. Could easily be wrong, though

I'm sure you're right, Phil...I honestly have no clue...I just thought the Pippin thing was funny. =) Thanks for the vote!!!

It seems you did work hard on this. 445. Here's what I would have done with the chorus: "Yikes! This trip wasn't easy Who knew how hard it would be? When I carried that damned ring You know it almost killed me!"

555 Arwen! FTR, the S-Bs did buy the house at Bag End from Frodo before he left (ostensibly to move to Buckland) and actually, when the hobbits returned to the Shire it had been taken over and much-damaged by a fellow named "Sharky" who turned out to be none other than an escaped Saruman. The hobbits, having dealt already with a Dark Lord in full strength, wasted little time in rousing their fellow hobbits, dispatching this broken wizards forces and restoring the Shire. Those who only watch the movies miss a whole lot (WHY, Oh WHY did they leave out Tom Bombadill????) But this is parody and you are allowed to use, umm, parodic license! Great job!!

Well, you ruined ROTK for me because I haven't seen it yet. But I still love you. And your parody. 555

ALVIN!!! Thank you sooo much! I really can't say how tickled I am with the response to this parody...as I said, I was so unsure of it...but I never dreamed it would get a "funniest of the day" comment from anyone!! You (along with everyone who's voted) have totally made my day!! =)

Lord, oh, Lord, why must this site be Ringed with this Tolkeinian twaddle? OK, it was funny, but still...

Michael...It's not going to stop...you know you want to...just...just embrace it. =)

ASHKICKSASS...I was just checking the old comments one last time before I went to bed, and I re-read this and how I spoiled ROTK for you. I really am sorry. I'm reminded of a time...quite a while ago, when I was in the middle of reading Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban for the first time. I had a HORRIBLE nightmare that Sirius Black was chasing me all over Salt Lake City (where I used to live) and that he was trying to kill me. I was telling one of my dearest friends about said dream...and she basically told me the end of the book. She didn't mean to...and she felt bad...but the damage had been done. It was a dark day for both of us...this kind of reminds me of that time. I really feel for you...So Sorry...

(SCI-FI) Follows the original perfectly. Well done Arwen. Love most Beatles parodies even when I'm not familiar with the subject matter of the parody.
Paul Robinson - October 19, 2004 - Report this comment
(Sci-Fi) Oh, I should have waited for a contest about "Thumbs" (inside joke)...there's too much "Rings" for me here to really get into it fully. sorry....it reads well except I get no imagery from the character references...

Johnny...thanks for stopping by again!

Guy...glad to hear your approval. As my little intro states, I stressed about this one for quite a while...(relatively)...and wasn't prepared for the warm welcome it received. Thanks!

Paul...you should know that we're still in a fight re: anything LOTR...just watch your step! ; )

2nz...it's okay! Better now than never, sweetie!! Thanks!
