Song Parodies -> "The Longhair Writing Code"

Original Song Title:

"The Long And Winding Road"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"The Longhair Writing Code"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

The longhair writing code
In-side
Of Windows
Will leave some bugs in there
I've seen that code - it blows

It always leads me where
My PC won't go

My screen turned blue tonight
Screen-Of-Death
Washed away
All my unsaved work here
Tried but could not save

Now I sit here in tears
My work's blown away

Many times on PC clones
I've seen my Windows die

Any way you'll never know
How many times I've cried

And so I'm blaming that
Longhaired nerd
Writing code
Scratching his itchy 'nads
While stroking his keyboard

My PC froze so bad
Had to yank the cord

( instrumental )

And still I'm blaming that
Longhaired geek
Writing code
Eating his Snickers there
And leaving bugs in code

Don't buy this guy's software
I've heard he licks toads

(Eww - bleah, bleah, bleah!)

I just know that nerdy, geeky type that writes this stuff. Why are they all so weirded out? Nice parody. 5 debugs you get.

Well, speaking as a longhair who writes code, I would like to point out that it's only short-haired programmers who put bugs into code: we pony-tailed types have passed beyond into guru-dom ;-)

"WE" pony-tailed types, Phil ? Hey man, are you, like, one of "us", dude? Allllll right !!! Thank you, Swami Alexander !
Phil Alexander - December 15, 2003 - Report this comment
JD, don't tell me you're another pony-tailed programmer who writes parodies? Are we a cliché, or what?
Johnny D - December 15, 2003 - Report this comment
PA, I kid you not, sir, at this moment I am taking a little break at my Dilbert workstation to write you this comment. Yes, I have had a ponytail since the early 1990's. I worked for many years doing Cobol and Cics programming in the financial services industry, and then I got my first "pure" software engineering job - and when I was hired for that job, my ponytail reached down below the top of my belt. I have since trimmed it back - it now reaches about half-way down my shoulder-blades. Far out, man! So we are both longhairs writing code - life imitating art imitating life imitating parody imitating art imitating life etc etc etc LOL !! ;-D

Get back, longhaired nerd. Your motherboard's waiting for you.
ChuckyG - December 15, 2003 - Report this comment
It's been my experience that the long-hairs just refer to their bugs as features, and pass off fixing them onto more capable engineers.
Johnny D - December 15, 2003 - Report this comment
Well said, ChuckyG. In spite of my long hair, I do a lot of what we call "continuing engineering", which is a euphemism for exterminating someone else's features without making them lose face.

Johnny D - A software engineer! Well that goes a long ways toward explaining all your virtual virtues. Good parody. Here's a logic exercise: I did vote before coming to the comments section. Carefully study the "Voting breakdown section" to determine what score I gave you. (You folks at home - play along on your "Home Version").
