The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"23"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

When I find myself in times of weirdness
Number strangeness comes to me
Synchronicities of
23

What is the first prime number
Whose two digits are both primes indeed
And whose sum is prime too?
23

23
23
23
23

Weird coincidences
23

And when the broken-hearted people
Living in the world seek peace
They will often read Psalm
23

Each human egg and sperm cell
Gives us half the chromosomes we need
Each cell's contribution
23

23
23
23
23

(yeah) Just a random number
23

23
23
23
23

One more than 22
23

( instrumental )

23
23
(ah) 23
(yeah) 23

Ain't no magic number
23

On the front of U.S. coins
Count all characters you plainly see
I bet you know the answer
23

The first Side-A song on The Beatles'
First album taped finally
After how many takes?
23

(yeah) 23
23
23
(yeah) 23

(oh) Mere coincidences
23

23
23
23
(yeah) 23

(oh) Almost kind of spooky
23

23
23
(ah) 23
(yeah) 23

Love that random number

Goodness! I never considered all those 'coincidences'. Spoooky!! good parody, Johnny! 5's
Melhi - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
What did those digits add up to again? ;) OOOh, another coincidence: It's also fun *2* multiply numbers by *3* (It just dawned on me that I might want to mention I meant the 5s)
Ethan Mawyer - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
interesting... but how could you leave out michael jordan from a parody about the number 23?
David Chrenko - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Very well done! Don't know if it's significant or not, but I played your parody backwards, and it came out 32 - 32 - 32 - 32 - 32 ...either way, you get the 5s. You've got a lucky face.
Agrimorfee - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Now someone has to parody "Heaven" by Bryan Adams into "27".
Rick D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment

Diva - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment

Thank you all - Leah, John, Adagio, Melhi, Ethan, David, Agrimorfee, Rick, and Diva - I thank you all - 23 times!

Rick.....are you by any chance referring to a certain number that ends in the four digits "1223" ?

2nz - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment

Claude Prez - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Two and a three ain't bad; well done Johnny
Rick D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
I don't know what I meant. I'm home sick and can barely type. But I like parody and was making reference to "B" side of single, "Let it Be"
Johnny D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Thank you, 2nz and Claude.

Rick - I hope you feel better real soon, man. I looked up the "B" side of "Let It Be" and now I see what you were referring to.

Johnny D - Was looking at this morning's "latest comments" are noticed the buzz on this parody. Well deserved. Johnny, you are rolling right now! I just noticed the blizzard of parody activity you've been generating lately. Now I've got to go check some of the other ones.
Mari D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Far out! An old college buddy who was into I Ching warned about the number 23. One interpretation is "Your soil can not improve, so you must not proceed. All is blocked by a huge, immobile Mountain. Remain where you are and do not advance."
Rice Cube - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
I used to be 23.
AussieBullDog - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Yeah, I was 23 once too. That's uncanny.
Johnny D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks Paul, Mari, Rice Cube, and AussieBullDog.

Meriadoc - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Now that was really weird; as I was typing this and telling you I was going to give you 5-5-5, it first came out 6-6-6... Spooky... ;-)
Johnny D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Whoa, Meriadoc.....better have your scalp examined for strange birthmarks....heh heh heh....>;-)

Thanks for your vote! 0:-)
Guy - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Hey, just two more votes and you'll have 23. This was really good. There are some interesting things about this number.
Johnny D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks, Guy. Yes, there are a lot of interesting things about good ol' 23. It's kind of a hobby of mine to be casually aware of 23-related coincidences, just for fun - the skeptical scientist inside of me reminds me that one could probably come with equally weird stuff about any number, but it's still fun nonetheless.

Here's an interesting tidbit for all you Star Trek The Next Generation fans....have you ever noticed that in almost every episode of Star Trek TNG, the script-writers worked-in at least one reference to 23 (or 23,000 or 23 hundred etc.) ? Check it out sometime. My wife and I enjoy catching re-runs of TNG and watching for the 23-references that the writers slipped into the script...it's true, I kid you not...check it out.
Rick D - December 03, 2003 - Report this comment
I always noticed "47" popping up in Trek. Phil Farrand remarks on it in "The Nitpickers Guides" I haven't picked up on "23" yet. But I'll start looking.
Guy - December 04, 2003 - Report this comment
Oh, goody, I got to cast the 23rd vote, what do I get? Oh no, is this a bad omen?
Johnny D - December 04, 2003 - Report this comment
Not a bad omen at all, Guy - here's what you get: (Thank You) X (23) = A REALLY BIG THANK YOU, dude!

5-5-5!!! I just read someone's posting which talked about how much they liked this song...so I had to come and see for myself. WOW!! Is it all true? Great work!! To quote Steve Jobs..."insanely great".

Thanks, Jude - yes, the 23-related things I mention in this parody can all be easily verified by anyone.

Johnny D - Uhhh...way past my bed-time and you'll probably be up shortly to view the new day's entries. Stopped over at your "Author" page briefly for a moment and lo & behold, "23" now has "32" votes. What could it all mean? I'd sleep on it but I think that would leave me with a really bad headache in the morning. NOW I'm done for the evening. Really...

Correct White Ant, of course I didn't give this a 125 but a 555. I should have written 23^2+23+3.
