Original Song Title:

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"New York Underground with Vagrants"

Parody Written by:

Lionel Mertens

The Lyrics

Vision yourself as a bum in Manhattan
With bread bags for socks and sleeping bag lice
Nobody wants you, you stink to high heaven
Your world is a shit hole of vice

Meisian towers with silvering sheen
Powering over your stead
Lost in a world with the rats and the mice
And it sucks

New York Underground with Vagrants
New York Underground with Vagrants
New York Underground with Vagrants
Ah

Hunkering down near a bridge by the subway
Where shopping cart people eat all that they find
Someting smells vile by your ramshackle bowers
That The Wall Street Journal has lined

Booze capered alleys play host to the poor
Eking their living lets say
See for your self if you have any doubts
They're just schmucks

Chorus 1X

Pamper yourself with a trip to Hell's Kitchen
Where drug ravaged hookers fleece working class guys
Circus show setting your seat is by ringside
Your world is a sight for poor eyes

Chorus 3X's

One of the best new parodies I've seen in a while. "Lucy in the Sky" is a great choice of a song to parody. Not that difficult to do, and the results are frequently funny as hell, for some reason. It's one of those songs, like "Bohemian Rhapsody" that has a great first line for the purpose of subbing. Nail that first line and you're off and running

I can picture this parody in my mind. Very well done. And a perfect rendition of this Midwesterner's vision of New York City. One stylistic note: bandwidth or space is not as scarce as it once was, so please spell out the choruses. It's much easier to read. Best parody I've seen for a while, too. The first and last stanzas are pure poetry.
