Original Song Title:

"Love Me Do"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Boring Tune"

Parody Written by:

Red Ant

The Lyrics

Don't shoot the messenger down here. I still love The Beatles' songs, just not all of them.
[harmonica intro]

Lame, boring tune
I find it is crude
I put it on mute
This we...e-e....eak
Boring tune
Whoa-oh, boring tune

Love, love me do
The words are so few
The rhymes simple too
Re-pe...-e-e...eat
Love me do
Oh no, boring tune

Here's what I did
I took a count
Just eighteen* words
Were what I found!

Lame, boring tune
You know it is true
Words long overdue
I spe...e-e...eak
Of this tune
Ca-alled, love me do

[harmonica break]

Lame, boring tune
Repet-itive too
It is ending soon
Re-lee...e-e...ieved
From this tune
Whoa-oh, boring tune
Yeah, boring tune
Whoa-oh, boring tune
copyright 2005+ Red Ant *There are only 18 different words in TOS and that's counting the "Whoa" and "Yeah".

Is this parody supposed to be boring and repeatitive? :p
Red Ant - November 22, 2005 - Report this comment
Robert, even though I changed every verse the parody is still repetitive to a degree, though considerably less so than TOS. Boring? Apparently 'insulting' was what "one" person thought.

Ha! You're right, it is a rather boring song, compared to many of their others. 555

555, this reminds me of that old Eddie Murphy sketch(On Saturday Night Live)that lampoons the Beatles(He claims to be the fifth Beatle). Good one. =)

Ah the one brigade. Im considering actually writing a parody that deserves all ones, as in, no pacing and not funny. Which shoud be hard :D

Yeah, it's kinda amazing to know that this was written by the same band that wrote Sgt. Peppers.

One day my roommate and I were listening to the "Let it Be" album when "Long and Winding Road" came on. My roommate burst out singing: "The long and boring song!" I could only respond with "that goes on and on..." Not every Beatles song is a classic - hell, some of them are barely tolerable and I'm a lifelong fan. So, 555 for you, Mr. Ant.

Anything making fun of the Beatles gets a 5-5-5 from me.
Agrimorfee - November 22, 2005 - Report this comment
Give 'em a break, they were practically kids when they first wrote the song! Mr. Ones as usual, doesn't get it. Anyway, a good self-aware song satire always makes my day. 555

I found one of your parodies. I never really thought about it before because it was The Beatles, but yeah, it is what you say. They must have written it in their sleep, or something. 5's

Thanks Robert, Alvin, Rick C, Step-chan, Peter, Ravyn Rant, Meriadoc, Agrimorfee, Pat, AFW and Kat.

Robert, too bad George Hamilinton IV isn't around anymore, you could have learned much from him in that matter.

Ravyn: That sounds like a great title. ;-)

Agrimorfee: Yes, they were I believe 16 and 17 when they wrote this in 1958 or so. I did tone this down a bit from the original parody.

AFW: This OS isn't bad really, in fact its better than most new songs. The harmonica is good but on the other hand it isn't a song that I will listen to much at all.

I searched E-bay and K-mart but they didn't have any. Telling your God he sucks isn't very nice either...

Well Red, it only took me a year + a few days to notice this one. Nice job. I can't fathom the folks who called your piece "boring and repetitive"...now the OS...THAT'S boring and repetitive, but your parody changes just about everything that can be changed...and does so very cleverly, too...just out of curiousity I counted the words you used and it came out to somewhere around 45 (OK, it was an inexact count...but I was seriously up to about 30 - watching closely for duplication. forty-five might not sound like a big deal, but even the repeated parody words were used in a different ordering - unlike the Fab 18 in the OS...so I don't see any validity to that reader remark. blah-blah-blah, right? Anyway, this was clever and funny, too...5's ~ ~ ~

No problem, Paul; we can't see every parody every day. I'm glad you went through my back works to find this little ditty and enjoyed it. Your count of ~45 different words sound about right to me. Thanks, man.
