Parody Song Title:

"Footnotes (This Song Has None)"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Red Ant censured the author's "Michelle" parody, "My Shell", for excessive use of footnotes. Hmm... Sixteen footnotes totaling 576 words... maybe he has a point... Memo to self: Limit footnotes to 500 words or less. Anyway, here's the "apology parody" ("apolody"?). Note: There are many different songs out there with the same title. OS lyrics here. Midi here.
So entertaining, try to be
Think up a funny par-o-dy
But at the end of every song
I put these footnotes, way too long
Clickin' away from me...

Why... can't ... I say it once?
Why... rant... replay it, dunce?
Now, every footnote, wonder why?
Why? No lie... Go try... No --

Footnotes, footnotes,
Footnotes, footnotes

Such comments kind, they give to me
So grateful: get a 5 (or three)
But when to end of page I scroll:
"Too many footnotes, you a**h***!!!"
Sickenin' sight to see...

Keep... it... short, sweet and simple
Put... too... much pus in pimple
Delete each footnote, gonna try
Guy, be sly... Be fly... No --

Footnotes, footnotes,
Footnotes, footnotes
Footnotes, footnotes,
Footnotes, footnotes
Footnotes

Red Ant, IK you DKTOS, but I DKTOS you suggested... Anyway, thanks for the suggestion and the parody idea. © 2006 Tommy Turtle.

DKTOS. How about "I am the very model of an academic footnoter" or something like that. I figure (1) many words can be keept as is or just subjectwise modernized and that you must be the right person to write that one.

(1) IMHO, Peter Andersson, 2006.

Wouldn't you rather be a footer-note to history than a hooter-note to fistory?

Peter, thanks, I do intend to get to "Major General" some day... AFW, thanks lol... Johnny D., thanks, and yes, unquestionably... Which would you rather be: Spoonerized pun or poonerized spun?
Johnny D - April 13, 2006 - Report this comment
The latter would flatter my phatter-fat batter.

Even your self-spoof about footnotes had BOTH opening AND closing comment s! Anyone got some duck[1] tape for this turtle? Ermmm.... I meant turtle tape ! [1] Yes, TT, I know it's really duct tape...
Larry Hensley - April 14, 2006 - Report this comment

Indeed DKTOS, though it scanned well to the lyrics you linked. Probably a better OS than what I suggested. Not your funniest work, but still very good. I was only half-serious about TMFFTM. I enjoy learning new words and terms, especially when they are provided.
TT - April 18, 2006 - Report this comment
Red Ant, thanks, very gracious... I enjoy learning also, but there is no question that "My Shell" went a "little" overboard on the footnotes!! (It was also a jokeon me - "MS "was sort of parodying my own wordiness and didacticism.)
