This shows how long have been writing parodies. I wrote this in the sixties when I was in the RAF.
FINGS AINT WOT THEY USED TO BE
They’ve banned all mini dresses from all the station messes
And fings aint wot they used to be.
They’ve even started thinking of stopping all the drinking
And fings aint wot they used to be.
It used to be fun when everyone
Drank till they were tight,
But now it aint done, you have more than one,
Go for a drive and get arrested.
Though the breathalyser is making drivers wiser,
Still, fings aint wot they used to be.
There’s girls in maxi dresses and men with golden tresses
And fings aint wot they used to be.
The birds now wear the trousers while blokes wear silk white blouses
And fings aint wot they used to be.
There once was a time, men knew no fear
And ladies looked so nice.
But now what a crime, it seems that we’re
Mixed up in drugs and vice, cor blimey!
Never mind the weather, get in the altogether
Cause fings aint wot they used to be.
A short time ago, singers would sing
A lovely melody.
But now, don’t you know, pop is the thing,
Grow your hair long and be a rock star!
One more thing is certain
We’ll all go for a burton,
Cause fings aint wot they used to be!
