The Lyrics

This is my first contribution to the "Lord of the Flies" theme, which seems to be relatively popular these days. We studied this book as part of a high school English class back when I was in high school. The point of view here is that of a third party who saw and reported what happened to Ralph, Simon, Piggy, and some of the others. There's a lot in the book, but TOS had only five verses. This parody is a bit dark but in reality, so was the book, and so is the fact that people can become evil in a very short time unless they take action to avoid this.
We were washed up on the shore
Where we’d never been before
The survivors numbered ‘bout 13
But our future surely was unseen
And the airplane we had flown on disappeared
But not our fears
We knew we’d found an island

Ralph, the leader, tried to be
Jack and others then did flee
Simon, Piggy, they did both remain
A sense of order they tried to maintain
And they tried to create a signal fire
Much like a pyre
So we could leave the island

Simon then climbed up the hill
What he saw gave him a chill
A human body there he came to see
Came back down to share the mystery
But no listened, and they killed him, then and there
None of us cared
We’ll never leave this island

Piggy was the next to go
The only one that Ralph did know
Ralph knew then that he would have to flee
Samneric’s words confirmed Jack’s strategy
So Ralph ran looking for a place to hide
And still survive
Until we left this island

Ralph was sighted by Jack’s tribe
To the beach he ran, alive
He fell down and saw one standing there
Finally someone he did hope would care
“We saw the fire and we came to see the sight”
We were all right
They took us off the island.

I caught part of the original movie on TV many years ago. It would probably be considered child pornography today. Never read the book. Did see The Simpson's parody.
