The Lyrics

Hello Facebook my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
I thought about you while I was sleeping
A chance for more pub-lic jour-nal keeping
I just logged in…for the fifteenth time today
To have my say
And share my thoughts…on Facebook

I’m at my keyboard all alone
Writing friends I’ll soon disown
‘Neath the status of the Farmville Champ
A photo of my neighbor’s kid at camp
When my reverie is ruined by a fight
‘Tween left and right
And that’s the lure…of Facebook

And on my “friends” list then I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People now that somehow think I’m cool
People from my elementary school
People that I knew…when I was two years old
And not so bold
As I am…on Facebook

“Fools”, said I, “You do not know
Facebook like addiction grows
Read my posts that I might teach you
In case I really ever do meet you.”
But the words that expressed my inner mood
Were kinda rude
And sorta harsh for Facebook

And some people I once knew
Told me they were at the zoo
And a guy whose daughter I once sat
Put up a picture of a costumed cat
And the cat said, “Da wurds of da kitteh are written underneat my face
At tummy place”
So glad I can...has Facebook.

Hi Lee & Alan. I thought that was a pretty good summation of the facebook phenomena. Good job!

Captures the Facebook phenomenon quite well. How do you make money providing a service for free? A lot of shareholders got burned for failing to ask that question.

FB: threat or menace? Nice one.

I liked the line about people that now think you're cool. I actually received a friend's request on Facebook from a girl who bullied me in girl scouts and caused me to quit. And I was thinking, you want me to FRIEND you now? Sorry honey, Merry has a loooooong memory. Also liked the line about 'the guy whose daughter I once sat.' Shows how we all grasp to include people who were in our lives for miniscule pieces of time. Facebook: the place where you friend people that you haven't been in touch with in years, and then continue not to be in touch with them....

Clever, funny and consistent to your theme. I like the way you adhered to the original rhyme scheme. There are a couple of glitches in the meter, I think. but that's always open to interp. Well done. You make me feel proud not to own a Facebook account.
