The Lyrics

And here's a true Mr. Rogers' son
Gee, I just adore your awesome show
(wo, wo, wo)
I hug the trees, Mr. Rogers' son
Revvin' up my face to smile today
(hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

I'd like to take a trip someday into your neighborhood
I'd like to visit that familiar house
Peek inside the closet where you keep your comfy shoes
Try your sweater on if that's okay to do

And here's a true Mr. Rogers' son
Please don't change a thing about your show
(wo, wo, wo)
I eat my peas, Mr. Rogers' son
Anything I'm told to do today
(hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Take the little trolley to the land of make believe
Hopin' Lady Aberlin will be there
If I make a boo-boo, Mr. Rogers will not care
Overall, he's very tolerant of kids

Coo-coo choo-choo, Mr. Rogers' son
Trolley is the only way to go
(wo, wo, wo)
I still believe, Mr. Rogers' son
Fairytales come true for those who play
(hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting in my dorm room with your show on channel two
Gonna miss my graduation day
Let's pretend that childhood's end
Is not a blink away
Here inside your neighborhood, I'll stay

So I'm a gone Mr. Rogers' son
Evading the awaiting passage due
(woo, woo, woo)
Keep time at bay, Mr. Rogers' son
Havin' fun until I'm old and gray
(hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Thanks, neighbor!

Enjoyable tribute. Wasn't Mr. Rogers an armed forces vet? He could kick ass in that sweater if need be

I wouldn't be surprised! He was an all-around cool guy.

PP: You are special. I'm glad that you moved into the amIright neighborhood.

I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

An affectionate tribute no arguement there. I wish you had time to mention Daniel Strip-ed Tiger, Mr. McFeely, and the Purple Panda.

I could never get past Lady Aberlin!

I agree with Agrimorfee here on this one. Mr. McFeely and the Purple Panda and that owl that lives inside the tree were all favorites of mine when I used to watch that show as a kid. This was a very loving tribute but I can't help but think it's lacking a little bit. Still a good parody though just not as good as you could have made it.

Yeah, if it had been a straight tribute song I'd have included more of that stuff, but it had a different point that I had a limited time to get across.

(Artistry) It's a good thing the internet has a fierce love of Mr. Rogers, otherwise I would not know what was going on here. That's right, count Mr. ROgers Neighbourhood among one of the many cultural milestones I missed. Maybe it's cause I've never had cable, who knows. Still, great tribute to a thing that other people fondly remember.

(Artistry) I too am engaged in Tom Lehrer's grand experiment to prolong adolescence beyond all previous limits. Fine work here.

Thanks for the comments! We didn't have cable when I was growing up, so I didn't discover Mr. Rogers until I was in college.

(Artistry) Way to pay homage to a beloved man. I felt this had a lot of good stuff in it, but like Matty it doesn't have that extra something that makes a parody so special. It's really good though.

Thanks for the comment! I really think I got what I was aiming for with this one, though.

I have an oddity to admit, I've only seen one episode--hated it--and haven't ever revisited so I suppose I'm with bobpie on this one buddy.

That's okay, Mr. Rogers would still think you're special.
