I've come trigger-happy again
Because insurgents coming from the South
Caught our attention by word of mouth
Syria was giving madmen guns
"Islamic sons"
Create the sound of Violence

In restless streets I walked alone
Battered streets declared war zone
Within the confines of my big Humvee
I began a oneman shooting spree
When silence was stabbed by the boom of a homemade bomb
Like in Vietnam
It touched the Sound of Violence

And in the blinding flash I saw
10,000 'Raqis maybe more
People were shooting without a sound
People attacking the lifeless ground
People shooting guns, and no one ever cared
Cuz no one dared
Disturb the sound of Violence

"Fools" said they "you do not know"
Insurgency like cancer grows
Hear our words and we might spare you
If you listen and drive right through
But their words like duds I did not heed
The sounds of tank guns were pungent

All the people bowed and prayed
To this "Allah" god they made
The gunmen shouted their warnings
But the battle was still forming
And the army said "The words of our leader
are written on your palace halls
and busted up walls"
Our mortars began the sound of Violence
