"Pony Stew"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Okay, picture the scene: Little girl is sad at the loss of her beloved pet pony just the other day. As the family gathers around the table for dinner, her redneck daddy brings out a truly 'special' dish.....
Pony Stew
He was a thoroughbred
Pony Stew
Until he dropped down dead
It’s the way he’d want to go, sweetheart you know it’s true
With gravy, beans and spuds, in Pony Stew

Pony Stew
He was too good to waste
Pony Stew
Go on now, have a taste
Sweetheart don’t be sad, you should be glad, now he’ll live on in you
He’s nutritious too, eat up your Pony Stew

Pony Stew
Now honey don’t you cry
Pony Stew
He could have been a pie
But because it needed sauce, and I can’t make a roux
I changed my mind and made him Pony Stew

Pony Stew
Now don’t you look so hurt
Pony Stew
‘Cause we’ve still got dessert
Sweetheart don’t be sad, you should be glad, now he’ll live on in you
He’s nutritious too, eat up your Pony Stew

(Lovely Pony Stew!)
(No real ponies were cooked in the making of this song)

Woah! That IS scary, Kristof! The starting-point for this one was because I've had rubbish hearing since I was a kid, and I remembered that when I first heard the song I actually thought he was singing 'Pony Oooh'. And now I shall be singing 'Tony The Pony' every time I hear 'Only The Lonely' too! :^)

"Only You" was by the Platters. If Roy ever did it, this is the first I've heard about it.

Turns out we're both right, Michael - Roy Orbison was the lead singer of The Platters berfore he went solo, so he was the one singing The Platters' version of it :^)

OOOOOOPS!! Having just seen a video on YouTube.... it's pretty obvious that he didn't sing the lead vocals on the ORIGINAL Platters version in 1955! I stand very much corrected! According to the website I originally sourced though, he DID do a version with them later on, in the 'sixties....might have to recheck that one though, since the info now seems to be a little.. patchy, to say the least! Sorry Michael!
