Saw a "news" story the other day that one of the characters on a soap opera was going to "come out" as "transgendered". If she was supposed to have once been a man, she had one heck of a surgeon. Even been fooling her boyfriend for all these years until the script writers revealed (created retroactively) her "secret".

What did Jenner do to deserve your enmity and ridicule? How has he transgressed? How has he offended you? Starting with Christine Jorgensen more than 60 years ago to Renee Richards and hundreds of others, people of ambiguous gender have sought resolution surgically. Do you have a problem with that?

Agree with Al. One of you says, "it's a funny parody of a disturbed person." Apparently you think it's a "real blast" making fun of someone's mental illness. I don't. I think it's cruel. Jonathan, equality does not mean you're free to openly "detest" somebody BECAUSE of being transgendered, Black, lame, female, etc. What's your next barrel of fun -- a parody of Michael J. Fox's involuntary movements? Everybody is equally entitled to be ridiculed if he's a jerk. I doubt very much that Jenner, who has had his Adam's apple shaved down and is growing breasts is doing it for the publicity but, if he is, he's way beyond being a jerk. He's indeed mentally ill and not "fair game." The parody acknowledges that he's "not mentally okay." So to all you genuine jerks out there who gave straight 5s, you know who you are and Shame on you!

T & F Man, you're right, but you missed the main point, which is that the jerks make fun of girly-men because they're insecure about their own masculinity and they need someone to feel superior to. Poking fun at transgenders, gays, etc., is a common trait among guys who worry about getting it up.

Sorry folks, but I have to step in for Jon. If you have followed the Jenner saga for years, his behavior and denials have not only disturbed his fans, but his own wife and family! At first he went through the hair changes, the lip injections, etc... only to claim he was tying to look better for his age (as a long haired man presumably). Then he acted weird and more hair changes before the Adams Apple shaving surgery. Then as people caught on, he altered appearance many times, sometimes trying to look like a woman and other times androgynous. So it was caught on film and upset his last last wife and family. Then statements came out over transgender. This Gold medalist champion could have just held a news conference a long time ago and no big deal. Btw, parodists make fun of everyone and everything. People have made fun of Michael Jackson (King of Pop), Gaga (LBGT supporter who was rumored to be a hermaphrodite) , and every other type of perceived disturbed person or sexual deviant. Stop picking on Jon. He just wrote a parody on Jenner and so have I and others here. It's unfair.

I have not followed the Bruce Jenner story, but if he is truly mentally ill, what sort of surgeon would perform such drastic, irreversible, life altering operations on a person whose judgement is so clouded? As for his appearance, this only confirms the ludicrous nature of the "coming out" of that soap opera character, who has been played by a woman, who was born a woman, and is very attractively a woman. Am I indulging in stereotyping to think that most "transgendered" women are more inclined to look like Janet Reno?
