Song Parodies -> "Fellows Larry Woos"

Original Song Title:

"Hello, Mary Lou"

Original Performer:

Ricky Nelson

Parody Song Title:

"Fellows Larry Woos"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

He passed his smile under stall A,
Later, protests too much: "Not gay!"
He just wanted to make a little score.
Though not to pray but to kneel down
And legislate a tube that's round,
So he got ready to open the door.

Cop said, fellows Larry woos;
Good-time part
Needs Larry to
Make love to in the loos.

In loos Larry woos,
Which ain't too smart,
But fellows Larry woos. . .
Headlines start.

His maw has lips that part for boys.
"You ain't born gay, you got a choice,"
Cry forces from the right and righteous way,
Like Foley, Haggard, and the like,
But not Mary, Dick's daughter dyke;
She's out, unlike Craig; "hypocrite," some say.

Cop said, fellows Larry woos.
Good-wife part
Plays Larry's Sue
Who stands by Larry, who's
A ruse; marries Sue
To play a part,
But fellows Larry'll woo
In the park.

Y'know, John... OK, bad choice of words there... Y'know, Mr. Barry, in the words of political parodist Mark Russell, there are times when the Republicans just make us say, "I love my work!" GOP hypocrisy is the gift that keeps on giving, making it easy for great minds to think alike.

Loved the flip-flop wordplay in the last verse... Don't think this was your intention, but something like "Dick's man-dyke" gets a pun on Dick Van Dyke. 555... wonder who's next in the outed-homophobe set?

That just goes to show that the more outwardly righteous someone is the guiltier.

Have you and Mike P got some ESP thang going on, JAB? This, with Pacholek's and Spaff's, makes a fine unholy trinity. 555

Good stuff, John. I commend you for resarching his wife's name (Sue/Suzanne), which fit very well into the last verse.
