Parody Song Title:

"A Fighter Paid To Fail"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

A boxer who fights on long after his sell by date (like most of them do)
I tried to fight, went down though...made girl squeals on the floor
I was thinkin' "Want to be sick"...he growled "Get up for more"
My head was thumpin' harder...he was gloatin' as I lay
I was worn out, gave another blink...he said I oughta pray

And now it is my mater...who can't recognize this male
For my face now looks just ghastly...I'm a fighter, frayed an' stale

My head is one big lesion...lost a tooth an' hurt my knee
Now I'm washed up, on the under cards...could not win you see
We're the mixed up mental has-beens...who are endin' up as toast
So it's now my eyes won't open...and I think I'm broken nosed

And so it is my mater...who can't recognize this male
For my face it looks just ghastly...I'm a fighter paid to fail

These lyrics really fit with the melancholy music. But what exactly did you mean by "mater?"
Andy Primus - April 21, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks Mark & McKludge (mater is an old fashioned term for mother - & pater for father)

Saw the title sub on home page, came here and immediately voted Fives. Now I'm actually going to *read* it!

Lives up to the title, and congrats on the extensive syllable-matching on a tough (and somewhat mysterious) OS. TMGLTM, but esp.

"My head is one big lesion...lost a tooth an' hurt my knee"

and turning "One of sixteen vestal virgins" into "We're the mixed up mental has-beens" was inspired! 555+.

btw, got the line-break thing nailed, or need to be pointed there again?

Thanks TT - When it comes to computers nothing is obvious to me. I was in my forties when I had my first go on one & I haven't learned much more since. It must be like driving or learning a new language - the older you are when you first try it the more baffling it is
