The Lyrics

When I got my first pair of skates at the age of two or three,
I put them on and headed for the ice immediately.
I didn't get too far until I slipped and bruised my knees,
Then along came that lovely thing called the Zamboni.

Zamboni very bulky and is bought with a high price,
But without the Zamboni I can't skate upon the ice.
Zamboni necessary - makes the ice as smooth as glass,
So without the Zamboni I would fall upon my (slide whistle).

The rink was full of bumps and slush - a disaster area,
Then something like a street sweeper came in the arena.
It worked its magic on the ice - swept it slick and clean,
So, I could sail and glide and spin. Oh, that wonderful machine!

Zamboni very bulky and is bought with a high price,
But without the Zamboni I can't skate upon the ice.
Zamboni necessary - makes the ice as smooth as glass,
So, without the Zamboni i would fall upon my (slide whistle).

Then came the day I skated in my first Olympiad,
It was my biggest challange, but what a time I had!
I did a salchow, lutz and loop - quadruple axel, too,
I got five - nines and sixes so I owe it all to you -

Zamboni very bulky and is bought with a high price,
But without the Zamboni I can't skate upon the ice.
Zamboni necessary - makes the ice as smooth as glass,
So, without the Zamboni I would fall upon my (slide whistle).

Wonderful parody of a Peter, Paul, and Mary (notice I did not abbreviate!) classic! I especially like the "slide whistle" - - - that is truly in the spirit of the original artists' wholesome style! 5-5-5

Slick as ice.

Cool parody, nothing for the others to feel sour about... ;-) Clever rhymes, plus the slide-whistle "censoring" gag was a great way to keep the song G-rated. Fives all round!

2Eagle - great job with PPM (yeah, I did abbreviate - to the utmost, somewhat unusual for me, but it's late and I just dropped in for a few minutes). Well, abbreviating saved me SO much time after all that, didn't it? Anyway, I love seeing someone use some older classic music. Outside of being really fond of so much of that stuff (like PPM) It means there is someone else around who MIGHT know some Original Songs that I have been reluctant to use here, not knowing if anyone at all would know them. 5's from me here.

Ah, I see. I had the other version of Lemon Tree in mind, but I used the Zamboni as a bad thing because it's like a blackboard wiper.

Thank you, Fiddle. I got that from the Happy Schnapps combo.
