The Lyrics

I was inspired by a recent parody by Old Man Ribber that proposed "politics-free Thursdays" for amIrighters. TOS was an obvious vehicle to satirize that idea, but matching syllables was a real challenge. In the namesake movie, Melina Mercouri sang the definitive, sultry and provocative rendition of TOS.
Oh, you can post one [1] on a Monday,
A fun day, that pun day is very, very good.
And you can post one on a Tuesday,
A news day, a views day, in fact I wish you would.
And you can post one on a Wednesday
Or Friday ('though Sunday and Saturday Chuck [2] rests).
Be ever clever on each Thursday,
Let mirth slake my thirst, stay [3] political song fests.

Most any day, politics contest; [4]
Many days touche', but Thurs-day arrest.
Just claim four days that you like the best;
Only stay away from Thurs-day; it's blest.

Oh, you can post one on a cool day,
A pool day or school day, whichever one you choose.
And might you post one on a gray day,
A play day or pay day, then me you might amuse.
And should you post one on a streak day, [5]
A peak day or meek day, why you can freely jest.
But never, never one on Thursday,
No-slurs day, no-spurs day; that's O.M.R.'s request.
[1] i.e., a political parody
[2] i.e., the editors including Charles Grosvenor, Jr.
[3] i.e., postpone
[4] a verb here
[5] i.e., when an author posts multiple parodies

BJM - WOW and thank you! There's much clever rhyming work here and I'm delighted. As for the original song, we refer to it as The Greek National Anthem. ;D

Cool rewrite to this old Greek dance tune

Thanks, OMR & AFW. May your "meek days" (no postings) be few and far between. ;^)
