The Lyrics

I love merged parodies. This is not a "mashup," it's a juxtaposition.
(instrumental opening)

Sittin' and feelin' confused.
This game is one I hate to lose.
Ain't seein' no light through the rain.
It's shame that I'm feelin' all this pain.

I'm sittin' and I'm driftin' away.
Gettin' no beat, soul's not free, no way.
Just sittin' and I'm driftin' away.
Gettin' lost.

Begun to think I'm wastin' time.
I don't understand the things I do.
The world outside looks so unkind.
And I'm needin' you to carry me through.

So I sit and I'm driftin' away.
Gettin' no beat, soul's not free, no way.
Just sittin' and I'm driftin' away.
Gettin' lost.

Looks like I can't free my soul.
Won't get lost in no rock and roll.
I can't do what ten people tell me to do.
Can you get me off this fishin' pole?

Just thank you for the joy you gave me.
All the rhythm and rhyme and harmony.
Please know that I believe in your song.
'Cause it's helpin' me and makin' me strong.

Now, I'm gonna sit and I'm driftin' away.
Gettin' the beat, and my soul's free today.
Just sittin' and I'm driftin' away.
Gettin' found.

(whistling fadeout)

I tried to do it the other way, doing "Drift Away" with "Dock of the Bay"'s lyrics, but I couldn't make it work. If anyone wants to try it, be my guest.

Nicely meshed mash, Michael. I did get lost in your rock and roll and drifted away. 555

Interesting merger. Did you carefully work out the lyrics or "just go with the flow"?

Drift away to your own island. Now what would you do with Leavin' on a Jet Plane?
