Original Song Title:

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"The Westminster Cat Show"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

OK, there is no Westminster Cat Show, but, "Comparable to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show in terms of pedigreed prestige, the CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association) International Cat Show is the largest cat show event in the Western Hemisphere."
The Westminster Cat Show
Brings felines to town.
They're spayed; shots for rabies
In case they bite down.

One kitty's named Muffin,
But she's pretty spry.
She jumps on a judge 'n'
Spits in his right eye.

Now in a cat show,
Mustn't touch the kitties; they shall
With their claws climb on—your skin's frayed,
That's why owners strap on a warning bell.

The Westminster Cat Show--
CFA renown.
Many crazy ladies
Bring cat fights to town.

Meow-meow-meow-meow-meow, meow. . . .

cute stuff, JB...I'm partial to cats, myself...but I think Cat Shows are pretty freaking absurd...not that the world doesn't need this type of absurdity to leaven the misery index now and then....but cats really should be allowed to do their thing and not much more...it''s really what they are best at...5's ~ ~ ~

Hi John, I have been reading a load of your parodies and what a well spent half an hour so far. My colleagues are looking at me strangely moving my lips. Don't know if this is the right place, but don't know how otherwise to contact you. I would like to include the Danish tradition of writing a song parody in my wedding to an Irishman here in dublin. I would like to do Major General. You seem to be an expert on this one. Do you think you could help me a teensy bit? You can contact me on alrncm (at) yahoo.co.uk Thanks a million Anna

555, but have you ever been to a cat show? I saw a film about cat shows on PBS and skittish cats aren't allowed. They have to have self control - like Socks the White House cat. He could appear in public in front of TV crews and crowds without jumping out of his skin. I felt sorry for those cats, though. They have become so inbred that they look grotesque - Siamese features are too pronounced and they are too angular.
