The Lyrics

On July 16, a black professor in Cambridge MA made a keyless entry to his home. After a vociferous exchange with a white officer who responded to a suspicious neighbor's 911 call, he was arrested for disorderly conduct. On July 22, President Obama presumed a role of race in the incident. I matched the rhyme and syllable count of each line of the OS, and repeated the fourth stanza and final line as sung by The Carpenters.
At Harvard University 8
We do love ethnodiversity 9
At burglary I've no clue 7
'Cause breaking in is hard to do 8

Remember that we have the right 8
To get pissed off when locks stick tight 8
Neighbor called, drat, I would rue 7
Breaking doors is hard to do 7

They say that faking cops is hard to do 10
Now I know, I know that it's true 8
Don't say those words that offend 7
Instead of raking him, I wish 8
That I was taking up some Zen 8

When he was through, he said goodbye 8
Thought I'd give my lungs another try 9
Cuffs on laid he, and soon I knew 8
That breaking out is hard to do 8

Obama ventured reason why 8
Far more blacks arrested by white guy 9
Cop and lady caller I'll sue 8
Hope breaking news is hardly true 8

Of presidential Waterloo 8
Then votes were postponed until September on Climate (Hope and) Change in the Senate and Obamacare in both Houses....

Subtle "jabs" are great... and love the line about the Zen!

I try to count syllables in lines too. Don't be too worried...a Barry J. Mitchel song is always great even if a beat would get twisted. ;D

Fg: Thanks; yes, he needed to calm down and become an OMR: I didn't listen to the audio; singers might need to use a cane in places where this parody limps. TJC: Frankly, a great punny line! My car's license plate is SLYRICS, the union of a 3-letter and a 6-letter word. You can have it, except in VA.

I'm sure that burglars everywhere, especially African-American ones, are thanking Obama for making neighbors more reluctant to call the cops when they see someone forcing their way into a home, and for making (white) cops more reluctant to do their jobs properly by asking the forced-enterer to provide his identification, for fear of being labeled not only "racist", but "stupid". There's stupidity here, but I don't think it's the cops. Gates, Jackson, Sharpton, et al. seem to go out of their way to provoke incidents so that they can holler "racism". I thought Obama was sharper than that, to fall for it. I'm badly disappointed that he did. 555

TT: Thanks, I'll go to your school. I enjoyed the flurry of Gates-inspired parodies that were posted on August 3, including yours.
