Song Parodies -> "Choose Caroline"

Original Song Title:

"Sweet Caroline"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Neil Diamond

Parody Song Title:

"Choose Caroline"

Parody Written by:

Mark Scotti

The Lyrics

Sent this in to Q104.3 for Caroline Kennedy's quest for Hilary Clinton's open Senate Seat
Where it began,
Hillary's seat was opened,
And then I knew it could be mine

Come the new year,
And Clinton joins Obama,
Uncle Ted says it will all be mine

Hands, greasing hands
Speaking out, promise me, I'll reward you

Choose Caroline

A Kennedy in New York would be so good

Neil Diamond seems inclined

To sing my praise back then
So you should, you should.....

Not bad for second day here - May 03, 2009 - Report this comment
Pacing is off in in about a third of the lines, and the entire second half of TOS is missing, but a brilliant, brilliant idea.

Thanks, Not Bad! It was a little off, as I tried to send it in qiuck to a radio station..

Yep, for radio it needs to be THAT DAY. But ya also gotta freakin' *nail it* on the first shot. (I once was given about thirty minutes to re-write a line that was "over the line" by their standards.) Great topical topic, esp. since your target was just NY; good satire; they might have taken it if it all fit. (Keep in mind the poor singer who has to record your lyrics to a karaoke version of TOS).

I've had the following produced by a comedy syndicate that supplies material to 700+ stations across the country. I don't think they're necessarily my best AIR efforts by a long shot, but they were quick, cheap to produce, and fit their guidelines.

Here's hoping ya nail the next hot topic on the first try and get it to the station quickly! ... and it was still a darn good idea and parody for your second day here. The bar here is MUCH higher than for radio, at least among "our crowd" -- as you've probably noticed. Cheers!

The above comments prompted me to do a litlle Amiright research of Recordings posted by you. What I found is that you have posted four excellent recordings of parodies you authored which were accepted by, produced by and played on radio stations. My favorite was "Autograph". I thought everyone ought to know about that. Great work!!!!

Thanks, Leo! I also got a bunch of rock n roll parody intros to Donald Trump recorded by the station, as they spoke to him. I'm going to try and string them as a montage and post them on youtube soon...
Which four? - May 09, 2009 - Report this comment
Hey, I always say, Never give out a plug if ya can't take one in return! ... Would love to be pointed to the four, and are the lyrics posted here also? .... and, just out of curiosity, they had no problem with you posting them here? I wasn't allowed to until the topics were obsolete (as ya can see from the list). Also looking forward to YT montage! ... maybe pm or email me, as I'll probably forget to check this page. Or if ya ever find a future post of mine worth commenting on, mention these songs. -- TT.
