I can see the_conqueror_of_parodies (or bobpiecheese or whatever his name is this week) has been cleaning out the cookies AGAIN to give you a set of bogus 111 votes. As always I like your works so I'll try and counteract this by giving some 555 GENUINE votes. Note bobpiecheese (or_the_conqueror_of_parodies or whatever you name is), if you are reading this; you should be ashamed of yourself; cleaning out the cookies to mess around with people's ratings. By all means report this comment and get it deleted, but if you do so, it means you are coward because you can't face the truth.

While it's undeniably true that the voting setup on this site is horribly flawed, I still want to know why (allegedly) only CoP has the ability to affect certain posters' scores by cleaning out his cookies. Why wouldn't that affect all posters?

It's not tCoP - my guess would be more like the person who keeps reasserting something he doesn't know.. going down the Goebbels route of repeating a lie so much that it becomes the truth. Don't fall for it, Diablo. It wouldn't be "only" him with that capability, though: anyone could (you don't even need to clear cookies for the first tranche of duplicate votes - if I were so inclined, I think I could probably muster up at least a score of votes from multiple browsers on multiple PCs and other devices.. come to think of it, including test VMs, that might even get as much as a hundred or so). It kinda shows that the overwhelming majority of folks are basically honest, ISTM. Just one or two who think it's worth the time (which is the crazy bit, really.. I mean, who really has that little of a life to spend their spare time racking up 1-votes? Kinda pathetic, if you look at it that way

On the surface, it appears that a someone started accusing TCOP of this vote shifting because they noticed that he had--for whatever the reason--a high proportion of 555 votes. It doesn't take much to think that the someone really has some sort of personal grudge on the guy to perpetuate the myth, and even perhaps uses this cache-system flaw to make it seem real. Whoever thy are, they must be extremely proud of themselves to make us all perplexed and talk about it. Same reason why we have 100-or-whatever parodies about some ill-fated Boy Scout field trip (none of which I ever read, nor will). Humanity is a sad thing sometimes.

Agrimorfee, here's another part of the mystery: That dorsal orifice who actually started the Boy Scouts on TV BS used to only garner a few votes per entry. Apparently he's figured out a way to jack those numbers up to 20+ positive votes. You know as well as I do that virtually no one likes his stuff.
