The Lyrics

If you missed the start of our parody of the entire musical on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, please enjoy it in order!

Scene 1 is here.
Scene 2 is here.
Scene 3 is here,
Scene 4 is here.

In our last exciting episode, the previously-pi**ed Professor reconsiders his regrets and recalls the rewards of AmIRight and of his new-found partnership.

However, all is not well in Parodyville. Ms. DoFiddle has begun to chafe from the Professor's constant constructive criticism in persistent pursuit of perspicacious parodic pluperfection, or, as she calls it, "nit-picking".

FG:
Just you wait, Tommy Turtle, just you wait!
You’ll be sorry; Turtle tears will fall—too late!
I’ll be popular and funny
Sell my songs for heaps of money
Just you wait, Tommy Turtle—just you wait!

Just you wait, Tommy Turtle—think you’re slick
‘Cause your parody ideas fly double-quick
But a whisper to the mortals who stand guard o’er the AIR portals…
Oh ho ho, Tommy Turtle, just you wait!

Oooooo, Tommy Turtle!
Just you wait until you’re deep beneath the sea!
Hey, Tommy Turtle!
And the other guys all want to write with me

When the posse comes around
At *my* pace, we’ll write ‘em down!
Oh ho ho, Tommy Turtle!
Oh ho ho, Tommy Turtle!
Just you wait!

One day I’ll be famous for my sweet pseudonym
Garner thousands of straight “5” sets again and again
One evening, our King will say:
"Ms. Fiddle, dear thing,
"I want AmIRight-ers your praises to sing"

"Next week I, Sir ChuckyG, shall say
"I proclaim Liza DoFiddle's day!
"All the writers will celebrate your glorious skill
"And whatever you ask of me, I’ll grant it—I will!"

"Thanks a lot, ChuckyG, I’ve been going through hell
"And all I want is Tommy Turtle's shell!"

"Done!" says the Man, "Bring him in"
"Guy, TJ, grab Terra-pin!"
Then they’ll march you, Tommy Turtle, shell and all
And Sir ChuckyG will tell me, “Watch him crawl!"
As they click their “one” votes dire,
I’ll shout: "Mouses: Aim, Fire!"
Oh ho ho, Tommy Turtle,
Down you’ll go, Tommy Turtle!
Just you wait!

Will they get back together and resume his mentoring, her education, and their partnership? See Scene 6 today, and Scene 7 on Monday, and find out!

Follows theme, tone and rhyme of OS exceptionally well. Glad to see ChuckyG in there as it enhances the DoFiddle frustration. Your story is moving along smoothly.

(Applauds): Bravo! I second Timmy's comment! It seems that Professor Turtle in this musical sounds like those British judges in reality shows who are brutally honest (i.e. Simon Cowell, Peter Jones, etc.). Outstanding performance, both of you! FG sings very beautifully (with my use of imagination). 555 stars! Now on to viewing your next scene!

It just gets better and better! Who says you can't put lipstick on a Pygmallion? ;D
TJC - October 02, 2009 - Report this comment
Ditto Timmy, Christie & OMR (LOL 'Pygmallion')!

This number gave you the fewest options by far branching out wise, but you've, er, 'played' it perfectly! The Turtle's truculence's psychological backlash has now been firmly cemented in our own primitive reptilian hindbrains!

Fave line? No contest: "As they click their “one” votes dire, I’ll shout: "Mouses: Aim, Fire!"

Good on ewe "TT & FG channelin' a thinly veiled (insert wolf whistle) FG"--you've finally succeeded in banishing the ghost of Marni Nixon!
Marni Nixon - October 02, 2009 - Report this comment
Mr. TJC, thank you, but on the contrary, it's been the bane of my existence to have bane banished into non-existence, not even being credited in the movie. I understand the actor who is playing the Professor had the same complaint about the movie he mentioned a few days ago, where his voice was used. No screen credit, although there's the old saying, "You take the credit; I'll take the cash." The rules were changed a while back to award screen credit to voice-overs and voice-dubbers.

For those not familiar with Mr. TJC's reference, Audrey Hepburn was not that good of a singer; in fact, there was considerable outcry at her casting. (Rex Harrison couldn't sing that well either, but they accommodated him by writing his songs so that they could be mostly spoken or sung-spoken.) In any event, every time Hepburn (Doolittle) starts to switch from speaking to singing, she might half-sing the first line, but whenever it transitions to full singing, that's my operatic-quality voice, which she could never match. Listen carefully, and you'll hear the difference. I'll give her credit, though -- good job of lip-synching. I understand that the Professor's actor also did some professional lip-synching, playing both sides of the fence, as it were.

Thank you for the mention, Sir, and for allowing this facet of the movie to be aired -- or do you say "AIRed" around here?

T1K: Thanks-- glad you're hangin' in there with us!

CMM: Actually, he's just brutal... (j/k!). And what a nice compliment about my singing. Perhaps we can find a part for *you* in our next show. ;)

OMR: You are so funny. :D

TJC: Hehe... Thanks! (Now if we could only banish the Professor...) ;)

Marni: For those "in the know", you are *always* an inspiration! :)

Andy P: Thanks for v/c... Stay with us for the remainder of the show! :D

Oh, that's sweet.... and what would happen to the rest of the show then? ... and for that matter, who would complete the hyperlinking in the remaining submissions? *I* could take it from here by myself... after all, I'm just an ordinary man, who lives an ordinary life .... but *you'd* be back selling flowers (or playing the violin) on a street corner for a tuppence.

(j/k! xoxoxo muah!. :-D)

Prodigious effort, you two. Having attempted something similar with my parody of "Tommy," I know how much work something like this can be. I'm printing them out as you do them and will then read the entire work.
Tommy Turtle - October 03, 2009 - Report this comment
alvin: thanks so much. glad yer enjoying!

John Barry: Appreciate your going to that effort, and I can understand wanting to read it straight through, as watching a movie.... At Scene 6, blackjack21 commented that, from our advance publicity, he was hoping for "Tommy". DK that you'd done it, so I'm glad we didn't. :)

I'd be interested in seeing it myself, and was going to point BJ21 to it, but searching 2500+ songs is a bit, uh, ... time-consuming. So please feel free to post the URL here, or at any newer scene, earlier, where more will see it. Thanks for stopping by and letting us know that you'll be reading. Hope it lives up to your expectations.

Not actually *hoping* for "Tommy" but making a play on TT's screen name. I would be interested in seeing JB's parody though.

The rhymin' and timin' are so sublimin' and ready for prime time. LOL- "All I want is TT's shell." (on a platter?) 555

blackjack21: Groovin' and movin', proven and benoovin'! :-) ... hmm, perhaps on the half-shell? ... thanks for v/c!
