The Lyrics

Yeah, yeah, oh yeah. . .
some renditions—I’d a scribblin’-em yen.

Got stoked up one morning and started writing again;
unplowed and primed, I hadn’t been brown-bagging gin.
I nixed riffs on “Clouds” or on “Eight Miles High”;
those posted here are what caught my eye.
I just dropped in to see the renditions—I’d a scribblin’-some yen.

Yeah, yeah, oh yeah,
I’d been scribblin’ some renditions again.

I pushed my goal: to author a whole bunch and so I did begin;
I got myself beyond doubt and started diggin’ in.
I sat down to write, put down the first line. . .
did a slew bunch over some time.
I just dropped in to see the renditions—I’d a scribblin’-much yen.

Yeah, yeah, oh yeah,
I been scribblin’ some renditions sent in.

Words arranged with keyboard tool; on screen, black letters,
send this one plus nine.
I plan to scoot post-this batch until the next time.
My style: pound out ten; split then off somewhere. . .
a while, once in, come ’round to share
and just drop in to see the renditions when I’m scribblin’ again.

I said I just dropped in to see the renditions—I been scribblin’ again.

Yeah, yeah, oh yeah

Great to see you back JAB, you have been missed! Nice to see a fellow numbers man again. I've been takin' Flak (pun intended) most of the year... but still reached goals of 2000, 2100, and tomorrow- 2200! I've slowed down a lot. 2200 reached in 31 mos vs 22 when I was doing 100 parodies/mo and 200 contributions/mo. Am at 614 IPASOY parodies. I also have 224 Beatles, 150 Gaga, 159 WHP, 132 Superhero parodies, 122 Willie Nelson OTRA, 44 Madonna, 37 I Wills, 30 KPOP, 85 Commercial jingles, and 81 Parodies-of-Parodies! Added Anna Kendrick but only have 10 so far. Still hold the record of only Top 10 Parodist and Contributor simultaneously (Nos 4 & 6 respectively). Hold 7 of 10 contributions categories as No.1 including Fragments. Have held weeks in a row at 8. Have created over 25 new artist pages by myself. I write everyday, but am tired and burned out. Although most of this year I have done serial songs and odd materials, I do have 403 artists overall (not counting poets, hymnists, and other misc people who sang). You beat me on the most posts per day when I was at 22 and I thought about taking that record back with 109 (Hint, hint)... but decided not to compile, then mass-post. You can keep that one! Glad that you took a rest- now you can go towards 5000 next goal :) 555 forever!

After that spectacular farewell, it was hard to imagine you had more material in you. But it appears you do. To all the numbers people, here is a challenge. Many years ago, when I first came to AIR, I challenged someone to do a rendition of "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts, by Bob Dylan. Leo Keough succeeded last fall. Here's a song I consider to be fiendishly difficult for a variety of reasons: "Tonight Is What It Means to Be Young" by Fire, Inc. from the finale of the movie "Streets of Fire".
