Song Parodies -> "The Bonely Dopehead"

Original Song Title:

"The Lonely Goatherd"

Parody Song Title:

"The Bonely Dopehead"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

Here's an innocent yodeling song about Leos who like to yodel...........
High on a pill was a bonely dope-head
Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo
Red were the eyes of the bonely dope-head
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

Then came a 'ho to the doper's own bed
Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo
"Hope you're a Leo" - "I am", the 'ho said
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

Oh-ho, lay me oh me Leo!
Oh-ho, lay me oh me lay!
Oh-ho, lay me oh me Leo!
Lay me oh me Leo, hey!

Father McKenzie's a dope not caught yet
Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo
Likes altar boys in a pope-like outfit
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

Then came a nun in a rope-like habit
Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo
Tied Father up like a hog-tied rabbit
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

Down at the disco a horny coke-head
Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo
Wiping his nose from a line he snorted
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

Then came a 'ho over to the coke-head
Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo
"Hope you're a Leo" - "I am", the 'ho said
"Lay me oh me lay me in the loo!"

Mmmm-hmmm!
Leo lay me! (Leo lay me!)
Leo lay me me! (Leo lay me me!)
Leo lay me! (Leo lay me!)

Oh-ho, lay me oh me Leo!
Oh-ho, lay me oh me lay!
Oh-ho, lay me oh me Leo!
Lay me oh me Leo, hey!

One little elf at the cold North Pole said
"Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo!"
Joined Santa Claus on the four-pos-ter-bed
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

When all the elves heard what Santa Claus said:
"Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo!"
They followed suit hopping on that old bed
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

Santa said "Elves - you're all Leos, true, ya?"
Lay me oh me lay me oh me lay me hoo
Elves said "You think that we're lion to ya?"
Lay me oh me lay me oh me hoo

Leo lay me!
(Leo lay me!)
Leo lay me me!
(Leo lay me me!)
Leo lay me!
(Leo lay me!)
Leo lay me me!
(Leo lay me me!)

Leo lay me oh me lay!
(Leo lay me oh me lay!)
Leo lay me oh me lay!
(Leo lay me oh me lay!)
Leo lay me oh me lay!
(Leo lay me oh me lay!)

Leo lay me oh me lay me oh me lay!
HOO!

Thanks, Arwen! It's good to know that someone else remembers that cute yodeling puppet show in "The Sound of Music" that Maria and the children put on towards the end of the movie!

Sorry JD, this one just didn't do it for me: I know the original quite well (ever since looking through all the rhymes they use for "goatherd", which are the funniest bit of the song), and found this very hard to sing along. Just as an aside: do you know "Ollie and Olga" by KBW? Has a corking yodelled chorus (and quite a funny video, too).

No problem, Philbo, thanks for stopping by. I also know the original very well, and I find this parody extremely easy to sing along with . . . who's to say? No two individuals' musical/lyrical perceptions are quite the same, I guess!

And Phil - I'm not sure I know who "Ollie and Olga" or KBW are . . . Can you give me more info? They do sound vaguely familiar.......thanks.

It's a song "Ollie and Olga" by Kevin Bloody Wilson - you can get a realaudio version from his webpage: http://kevin.bloody.wilson.com.au/sound_bytes.htm - the chorus goes along the lines of: "Who diddled 'e old lady" etc
