Song Parodies -> "Those Tragic Morons"

Original Song Title:

"This Magic Moment"

Original Performer:

Jay And The Americans

Parody Song Title:

"Those Tragic Morons"

Parody Written by:

Malcolm Higgins

The Lyrics

those tragic morons,
with leftist points of view,
they're not like the others,
not like me and you
and then it happened,
a rising of the right
I know that they felt it too
by the fear in their eyes

victory is mine (victory is mine)
now we 're running from the right (running from the right)
everything we want we have (everything everything)
down in Washington tonight

those tragic morons,
kissing *ss, it should be mine,
we'll last forever
forever till the end of time..

yeah wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-
wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
wo-wo-wo-wo-

those tragic morons,
with leftist points of view,
they're not like the others,
not like me and you

Tragic? It is right-wingers who usually fall in classic tragedy (Julius Caesar, Richard III, etc.), and it will happen again. Poor Georgie, he didn't learn from daddy's mistake, couldn't keep the war going until November '04. And it was the Drifters who did this first, in 1960, nine years before Nick Carter & the Backstreet Boys...excuse me, Jay Black & the Americans. So that's three F's for history, two for you, one for Georgie. As for the parody itself, it's as weak as the Iraqi army, and with about as much staying power.

Michael, that was a very well-thought out and eloquent insult. Nice. I do think that the pacing was more than adequate though, and this did make me chuckle, so I gave it straight 5's, even though I don't agree that all "leftists" are necessarily "tragic". And the Drifters did do the original, as far as I know.

Hey Mikey! Which Richard III was 'right wing'? The Shakespeare one, or the REAL one? In the short two years of his reign, R.III made more 'left wing' type reforms for his British subjects than any monarch before him. I'll give you an A in classic literature and an F in British history. Don't mess with a Ricardian. ;-) Malcolm, you get 4's from me, altho' it is a tad harsh...

"Don't mess with a Ricardian"? Oh, whaddaya gonna do, kill me, like your boy Richie had King Edward V and Prince Richard killed in the tower? I read Alison Weir's books, and they conclusively prove Dick the Ripper is as guilty as O.J. Simpson! He engineered a coup, and he didn't need his father's help like some other tyrant I could mention!

Alison Weir? ALISON WEIR?? A _serious_ historian like Alison Weir? (Hey, if Amazon.com says it it has to be true, right?) Oh mea culpa, Michael, ya got me there. I bow to your expertise! (Sorry Malcolm for hijacking your parody comments here) :-)

wow...such hostility.. I thought this was all in fun
Meriadoc - April 12, 2003 - Report this comment
Sorry Malcolm! I just didn't like seeing your parody knocked so harshly. I go into 'cynic mode' very easily. But _hostile_? No, if I was truly feeling hostile, I would never have put in the smilies... ; - )

I suppose Meriadoc would rather read the well-researched tomes of Mr. Albert Goldman and Miss Ann Coulter. I suppose you also think Joe McCarthy was a hero, and I don't mean the old-time Yankee manager.
Meriadoc - April 12, 2003 - Report this comment
Joe McCarthy? - er - he was that baseball player that married Marilyn, right? Truce, Michael - we've got to stop messing up Malcolm's comments section... No, seriously. Stop. Really. I mean it. Oh dear, now I have the hiccups! :-D
Michael Pacholek - April 12, 2003 - Report this comment
A little water cleanses you of that deed. No, wait, that's Macbeth. I mean, the Scottish play...oops, I'm cursed...Maybe I should take the truce.
Meriadoc - April 12, 2003 - Report this comment
Truce good. Better than lawn darts at 20 paces.... 'You take the red darts and I'll take the white darts and I'll get to Bosworth before ye...." No, no, bad Meriadoc! Bad! Gotta go take my medication now...

Lightfoot - April 13, 2003 - Report this comment
What the hell is this to do with the original song?
Rice Cube - April 14, 2003 - Report this comment
I don't think it has anything to do with the original. That's why it's called a "parody" ;-)
Bubba - April 14, 2003 - Report this comment
Meriadoc, I believe you are confusing Joe McCarthy with Joe DiMaggio, although I admit the resemblance is uncanny... ;-)
Meriadoc - April 14, 2003 - Report this comment
Hot dang Bubba! I jist knowed one a them there sportin' types married that girly.... Wasn't McCarthy one a them high-falootin' importeed soccer players then? ;-)
Lightfoot - April 14, 2003 - Report this comment
Rice ! I meant what the hell has the above conversation got to do with the price of mungbeans in Lebanon? The parody I like !
Bubba - April 14, 2003 - Report this comment
Naw, Meriadoc, McCarthy was one of them there dang Beatles... ;-)
Meriadoc - April 14, 2003 - Report this comment
Oh yeah! Paul McCarthy! The one we didn't sleep with last night! (Poor Malcolm must be ready for the rubber room, after reading all our drivel here day after day! Ha!) :-0
