The Lyrics

If you see an author's writing on your screen
With a heavy load of the glee they've gleaned
And if you think their humor's galling you today
Don't stop and say they should take it away

You've got to have a sense of humor
Yes have a sense of humor
Just smile in spite of everything you see!

And if you have a sense of humor
Then you'll not start up a rumor
That the writer whose words bug you
Is a narrow-minded geek

If you're Christian, Buddhist, Hindu
If you're Muslim, Wiccan, Asatru
If you're Agnostic or an Atheist
Show all your smile and not your fist!

You've got to have a love of laughter
Yes have a love of laughter
And smile when fun's poked at your De-i-ty!

And if you have a love of laughter
Then the God whose love you're after
Will Divinely chuckle with you
With compassion, love, and peace

(instrumental)

Why don't you ask your God or Goddess,
Yes ask your God or Goddess,
If They for-give un-con-di-tion-al-ly?

And when you ask your God or Goddess
Betcha They'll smile, laugh, and say, "YES!"
'Cause the greatest sense of humor's
Owned by Those-Oh-Most-Supreme!

I can't believe you haven't gotten comments on this, Johnny. The people who think you're too bawdy should love it. The hair-trigger zealots should have wondered if you were making fun of their deity, and slammed it. I just find it another side of you that is fun to look at. There. You have a comment now.

Thank you, Rick. Yeah, kind of odd that nobody (until you, now) has said anything. Oh well, I guess maybe folks found it to be a little too bland and goody-goody or whatever. Or maybe they just DKTOS. Or maybe they didn't get the joke... heh heh heh... funny how so many "spiritual" and/or "religious" people, and/or "people of faith", don't seem to have a sense of humor about their faith, their religion, their theology, their deity, or in the case of agnostics and atheists, their lack thereof... sigh... people take themselves and their belief-systems WAY too frickin' seriously, IMHO.

I must say I enjoyed it. I mean, you'd think parody writers would have a sense of humor, now, wouldn't you? I remember one time I lost mine and I had to walk around not laughing all day. Nice rhymin' in here too, good one JD. I recall a quote from 'Big Fish' (A movie I'd highly recommend) that has something to do with this:

"...and I went to Africa, too. We walked through the jungle and I heard the birds talking. It was a different language, mind you, but I heard it all the same. They talked about everything, the weather, politics, history, geology... everything except religion."
"Why not religion?"
"It's not polite to talk about religion. You never know who your gonna offend."
