The Lyrics

Things are getting a bit Kafka-esque around here...
I slept sound, but now I fear
Now I'm awake, I wish I wasn't
My bed is nowhere near
Its space, fixate on that because then
The bliss of ignorance
Is certain to remain in my brain
What's wrong? What's wrong is this:
I'm now a primate

Some dicks out there assume
That I'm a twit, and so they'll mention
That humans are primates too
A technic'lly right definition
But I'd still say "piss off"
Cause human flesh? No longer mine, lame
Got fur on all my limbs
Somehow a primate

Sure, I can climb much higher, cool
Picking things up with my feet? That rules
I haven't lost my mental clout
Although I can't spit English out
Can't speak at all, that's kinda balls
Like standard primates

I'm pissed, I'm mad, I cried
Those other chimps find me amusing
And then out there I can spy
Mankind, which has me here fuming
If this was jungle land
I could retain sanity, I hate
The whole zoo thing, you see
One angry primate

No longer a man, that's simply wrong
I'm still myself, hope that lasts long
With ev'ry damn banana peel
Identity shows cracks, I feel
I won't stoop low, no poop I'll throw
Soul's not a primate
Yes, I'm no primate

I already knew of the irony that Sinatra didn't actually write My Way. What I didn't know is that Paul Anka only wrote the English lyrics, the music was nicked from the French song "Comme d'habitude". Sampling goes back further than I thought, I guess.

Hehe, I get it. In the OS, you hear "What is a man? What has he got?" This parody asks, "What is an ape? What has he got?" As if Magilla Gorilla was reading the Great Philosophers or something. Neat parody requiring another read to fully grasp, which I don't normally see from you, dude. 555.

While the Paul Anka/Frank Sinatra song is the boast of a rugged individualist at the end of his life, the original French lyrics are about a bored suburbanite going about his mundane affairs. Don't know how Paul Anka managed to extract his lyrics from "Comme d'habitude". I like this one. Makes you wonder what chimps are really thinking. If they're thinking.
