Original Song Title:

"Mr. Ed Theme"

Original Performer:

Evans, Livingston

Parody Song Title:

"Bits Pre-Tech"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

The source: Mr. Morse; what a resource…
set communications on a new course.
with proto-bits both long and short
the way words were transmitted.

Before that, a horse would run a course…
carry messages that had been pen-endorsed,
expressing joy, perhaps remorse,
though they were dated.

Key went clackety-clack to “speak”
in a binary way.
And what was said did not take weeks
to reach folks…got news the same day.

But Morse ran its course; out it was forced;
the telegraph went the way of the horse.
Get news now from many a source.

Watch out for bullshit!
Might well be misled
by digital dreck.

If only to show I don't kowtow; And overlook everything that's askow; Whenever one who could go pro; Does a flaw I'd list fer Fred*............... "set communications on a new course" I'm not sure the word "a" is needed, and it interferes with the meter............ A perfect 5-for-5 of 555's for Mr. Barry today. Tremendous work! *Fred was meant to be a generic submitter. As far as I can tell, we have no active submitters named Fred. My apologies to anyone reading this actually named Fred.
