Parody Song Title:

"Devil in the Tri-"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

They looked for the angels,
sought out the angels,
fought for the angels
up in the sky.
Then, the devil in the tri-
tone came to mar
the music once so high.

They’d tooled tunes for the blisses
brought on by tempered schemes.
Heaven-centric, songs were blight-free,
but rent quick were those dreams.

They’d looked for the angels,
sought out the angels,
fought for the angels. . .
then, evil eye.
Came the devil in the tri-
tone, which would mar
the music once so high.

They thought the temper of heaven
would always be applied.
Heaven’s helpless against the B-E sharp—
devil’s untied.*
(Heaven’s helpless against the Be[elzebub],
whose devil tone’s untied.)

[musical interlude: “Maria,” from “West Side Story,” and theme from “The Simpsons,” both of which open with a tritone]

Forsook by the angels,
not from the angels,
brought not by angels. . .
a long-gone time.
Came the devil in the tri-
tone, which would mar
the music once sublime.
And then 12-bar
blues—came after Ragtime.
Useless to spar
with all that sonic slime.
Let’s hit the bar—
that pun sure was subprime.

I wrote a song one time that had a B7sus chord followed by a B7+5. What kind of trouble did I get myself into? I noticed that just prior to your 'musical play on words' you cleverly changed F to E# to match the OS (or is there some notation I'm not familiar with?).

Key of B Major has five sharps: B C# D# E F# G# A# B. Perfect fourth is B-E. Tritone is an augmented fourth, so the E becomes E#, the enharmonic of F, since a tritone is also a diminished perfect fifth.

Interesting angelic pitch- 555! The use of descriptive names of Helel (Hebrew) a little disappointing though and the fact he was Cherubim class not mentioned. Guardian of God's Presence. Btw, angelic range is beyond human. When spirit beings angelic and Godhead talk, their voices permeate a human being. You don't just hear the words, but feel them. That's why many in the OT fell to the ground as if dead. Also, Helel led the angelic worship prior to his fall. Comparisons to human singing is not valid. Far beyond human range.

As a former ukulelist without formal training, I disapprove of your example key signature. B is the last key you want to play on the uke; and E# ? The next Pres. should ban that notation, even when not associated with the tritone. Reluctant 5s.
