The Lyrics

Two for the price of one on this very special day when we give the weatherman a break and transfer his extended forecasting duties to a furry, burrowing rodent. YouTube version of original song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhSYbRiYwTY
Groundhog Phil to Punxsutawn'
Townfolks mill with tuxes donned
Brave the coldest chills and put your silk hats on

[The following sections are sung simultaneously]

[Verse]
Groundhog Phil to Punxsutawn'
Suspense, it mounts on Gobbler's Knob
Check conditions and pray clouds come into view

[Background]
Wind, rime, flakes, gustin', drifts, ice,
Hoar, freeze, cool, front - Jack Frost

This is Groundhog Phil to Punxsutawn'
I really crave the shade
And my capers often show the worst is spared
Now it's time to leave this rat hole, sniff the air

This is Punxsutawn' to Groundhog Phil
You step out to explore
And we're hoping for a ghostly gloomier haze
That will start the merry shift to better days

For cheer has been missing in a grim land
Darkness to endure
Absent mirth is due
And we're trusting you'll come through

[Instrumental break]

Lo, I dash one hundred million smiles
I'm weak and very ill
And I think my shadow shows there'll be more snow
Spell of white to suffer - very tough, we know

Groundhog Phil to Punxsutawn'
The worst, I dread - the sun's too strong
And I fear it, Punxsutawn'
Oh, your drear, it must go on
Could it be Al Gore was wrong?
And so....

Here have I spoken with my dim glance
Harbinger of gloom
Plans for mirth are doomed
And I'm gonna hide till June

[Instrumental to end]

I sure as heck got a kick out of this humdinger. Say, can I bend your ear a bit about the need for a comprehensive insurance plan?

Another take on Punxatawney Phil! Casting another 555 shadows for this one, meaning that I'll enjoy six more weeks to life on your upcoming parodies! Good work! I'm going to watch "Groundhog Day" now!

If Luke Harangody sees his shadow today, it means six more weeks of Notre Dame basketball. ;D

Glad to see the groundhog make an appearance today, Bro. Nicely done. We had shade here.

Nice to burrough through this one! I saw Punxsutawney Phil online today. I saw "Groundhog Day" recently too! On my dvd, not tv land, who showed it enough times for it to seem like Groundhog Day in the movie.

Very clever. I nice ode to an overgrown rat weather prognosticator.
