The Lyrics

I was afraid to go camping last summer
Wolves, bears, who knows what else there could be?
But the whole trip turned out to be a bummer
You see the Park Ranger told us to flee
Two, three, four, what beast made that fright-ning roar?

It was a cutesy, wootsie, sunny, funny, angry, evil, rabid bunny
That demolished our campsite that day
A dainty, wainty, fuzzy, wuzzy, soft pink psychopathic bunny
It's Camper Season, and we were his prey
Two, three, four, ate the host came back for more!

Now all bunnies are supposed to eat veggies
But this one seemed to not carrot all
Cause when we tried to distract him with veggies
It just sank his sharp fangs into poor Paul
Two, three, four, what monster could make such gore?

It was a mammal with a grisly habit, furry little blood-soaked rabbit
That ate Jason at Camp Crystal Lake
We tried to shoot it, beat it, stab it, but we couldn't kill the rabbit
So in a panic we all ran away
Two, three, four, hide inside and lock the door

We were afraid to come out of the cabin
Were afraid to be dragged down that hole
And we wondered what was going to happen
When this little man went for a stroll
Two, three, four, who is going to go hardcore?

He was a doofy, goofy, stunted, grunting, short and balding rabbit hunter
But it turned out that he was a dud
He tried to fight it with his gun but it was backward he took the brunt
So in the campground he fell with a Fudd
(Should have stayed home in the city)
(Could have eaten rabbit stew)
(Now I'm lost in the forest)
My hare-raising tale is done

He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about. Look at the bones!
Matthias - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Brilliant story and the Jeff Reubenly puns just put it over the top. Plus the line about the man trying to shoot the rabbit, but using the wrong end of the gun. lol. This was great!
alvin - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
wonderfully dizzy meeting of two worlds
Matthias - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
I didn't catch this without the song, but was the line "Run Away" taken from Monty Python? The killer rabbit was a great idea there, and even a better idea here. (Not a huge fan of Monty Python, don't hate me I love Airplane).
John Barry - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Hare-raisingly funny.
Patrick - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Didn't "carrot" all. Great line. I have seen rabbits eat meat and bones. They can get vicious if cornered. Reminds me of the movie "Lepus".
Timmy1000 - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
What a great title and the parody certainly did justice to the title - I'm still laughing!

My fav of the day... all hail and pwaise the wabbit!
Jeff Reuben - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks all for reading...and yes Matthias, Run Away (and other parts) were inspired by Monty Python (and Bugs/Elmer Fudd, Kip Addotta, and Friday the 13th).
John Jenkins - February 12, 2009 - Report this comment
Very bad carrot pun. Very good parody.
Phil Alexander - February 13, 2009 - Report this comment
I was half expecting a Python & the Holy Grail sort of parody... but I loved the Fudd wefewence :-)
Claude Prez - February 13, 2009 - Report this comment
Yeah, me too. Very very entertaining, and I think you may be the first person to do a Fudd-related parody without using the speech impediment so congwats.
BunnyFudged - February 13, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks for bringing back old " Emer Fudd ". Sir Jeffry!
Agrimorfee - February 13, 2009 - Report this comment
(Ages) Hilarious Jeff! Plot twists galore took this over the top.
Arwen - February 13, 2009 - Report this comment
I don't know what's worse...this bunny or those aliens that tried to attack us in that dream of yours. ; ) Yikes! Loved it, Jeffy! Love love LOVED it!

LMAO! where on earth did the inspiration for this one come from? don't think this bunny will be being boiled anytime soon.Awesome parody!

Ashkicksass - February 18, 2009 - Report this comment
Oh Jeff, this is just hilarious, and absolutely brilliant. Of course I loved the carrot all line. And the allusions to Elmer Fudd. You ROCK!
bobpiecheese - February 24, 2009 - Report this comment
(Ages) Damnitt, McKludge beat me to the Killer Rabbit joke. And even though Monty Python beat you to the killer rabbit concept, you sure took that concept and made it brilliant in your own way. 555!
Arwen - February 25, 2009 - Report this comment
AGES...Jeff...you know that I loved this, and I really can't imagine anyone beating you this round...=) I mean...I haven't looked at any of the votes...but this one gets my 5 by a mile. Excellent! I might snake it and record it for youtube. ; )
Invisible Boy - February 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Over the top with greatness, Jeff. Of course, I would expect nothing less from the reigning author of the year champ (*pressure*).I'm with Arwen. You've got my top vote for this round.

Cute and clever; lots of good colorful words. Some of your syllables fell on the wrong notes. Overall impact good, not great. 5-4-4.
Glen S - February 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Cute, funny, well-written, and combining Elmer with a bad 'bit from Monty Python. Well done, Jeff. Kudos indeed to the author of this past year. Belated congratulations, man.
Gari J - February 25, 2009 - Report this comment
One or two words in the chorus were a little bit off pace but other than that this is a clever well written parody especially the words used to explain the bunny cutesy, wootsie, sunny, funny, angry, evil nicely used in a sentence 555.

Your best without a doubt. Lots of great lines such as "That ate Jason at Camp Crystal Lake" and "Two, three, four, ate the host came back for more!" and "But this one seemed to not carrot all" I would post more but I could have to copy and paste the entire parody!
Claude Prez - March 18, 2009 - Report this comment
Still great; a second reading allows me to appreciate the varying choruses and stuff even more. Awesome.

(SOTM) hey wow, that was hilarious Jeff - beyond hilarious, clever too, and a story to boot, and all those Reubenesque puns ("carrot" was a killer!) - is it just me or has the mantle of Parody Author Of The Year bumped you up to another level? - brilliant writing
Below Average Dave - March 31, 2009 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Yeah see above, I'm normally not for using songs for multiple comps, I had no choice this time, but I can't imagine what you could have had that would be better than this, the idea to this particular song, still wow
Arwen - March 31, 2009 - Report this comment
SOTM...you already know how I love this one, Jeff. I don't know that I'll ever sing the original lyrics again!

Makes me want to camp it up on the Nature Trail To Hell. Time to pick up the Vitaphone to order rabbit from Elmer for Easter dinner. Mr. Hef, hide your bunnies!

How do you come up with this stuff? "Okay, well I'm gonna just write another parody now, let's pick a topic and a song out of a hat... mm, rabid rabbits and Yellow Bikini. Funny, I was just thinking of that." Hilarious as usual, Jeff.
DJ Blaze - April 09, 2010 - Report this comment

This one goes down in history of being a Jeff Reuben classic. Honestly it's one of your best and it's going to be next to impossible to beat this one for the round!
Blaydeman - May 12, 2014 - Report this comment
(ABC) Jeff I both love you and hate you. I love you because you're an excellent writer and come up with crazy awesome things like this and I love them so much, but I hate you because you're SO GOOD! As much as I'd like to think these competitions are for our improvement as writers and fun, but my competitive nature takes over. I want to win, but you're always right there standing in my way with something better. You're like my nemesis. Regardless, amazing spoof sir.

Abbott Skelding - May 15, 2014 - Report this comment
I gotta agree with Blaydeman. A love/hate feeling with this spoof...love because it's hilarious and that you created it, hate because it's hilarious and YOU created it! Such a great idea that was done perfectly. I love how you changed up the choruses each time (with the different rhymes for bunny and rabbit). Excellent work!
