Song Parodies -> "Sophia Loren"

Original Song Title:

"Blowin' In the Wind"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Bob Dylan

Parody Song Title:

"Sophia Loren"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

Dylan mentions Sophia in "I Shall Be Free," along with Brigitte Bardot and Anita Ekberg. He may have had issues with women in real life, but on the screen, he had excellent taste. If J-Lo, CZJ, Angelina and some of the other oft-tributed women on this site are All-Stars, even future Hall-of-Famers, then Sophia, who at twice their age still looks fantastic, is on the All-Century Team. Might even be the captain.
How many films can a man look at
wishing he was this woman's man?
How many times can he play DVD
before he can win lady's hand?
How many times must he know, born too soon
and that he'll never understand?

Go ask her, my friend
Ms. Sophia Loren.
Go ask her, Ms. Sophia Loren.

How many times can he wish he'd grown up
in Naples, in south Italy?
How many times can he wish it was him
on screen, not Mastrioanni?
How many times can a make shake his head
and pretend that it ever could be?

Go ask her, my friend
Ms. Sophia Loren.
Go ask her, Ms. Sophia Loren.

How many years can a man watch her films
without ever being her guy?
How many ears must Ms. Loren have
before he can hear this man cry?
How many deaths will his heart suffer through?
"She will be mine!" Knowing he's lied?

Go ask her, my friend
Ms. Sophia Loren.
Go ask her, Ms. Sophia Loren.

Go ask her, Ms. Sophia Loren.
She's been with film producer Carlo Ponti, exclusively, for almost half a century. And he's a lot older than she is -- even older than Kirk Douglas, never mind Michael. Definitely not encouraging for those of us who love someone else who fits the profile, if not having the "career stats" of this still-sultry film goddess.

Incredible -- just a week after I posted this parody, Carlo Ponti, Sophia's husband, has died. He was 94. I'm sorry. For her.
