Parody Song Title:

"Love Yer Cranium's Own Slick Views"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

DKTOS? lyrics here, a good cover version is here.
[intro]

Dylan's talking nonsense
A brain freeze is imminent
Don't know what he meant
So here is an experiment
Some odd lyrics re-wrote
Drop out, tune in
Love your fellow human
Help 'em with their movin'
Have some kids
It's fun to change bibs!
Man's best friend
Ate her kitty cat again!
You're making bucks for a better way
Lookin' for a pay raise
Takin' off the holidays-
-The rent can wait
Then another soldier's killed
War is a stale-mate

News talks of arms race
View peoples' myspace
Music made in bad taste
You see it my way?
The phone's tapped nowadays
Sandwich with no mayonnaise
With dip, chips from Frito Lay
Ordered from a Subway
Look out guys,
Birds fallin' from the skies!
Chew with your mouth closed
E-mail now goes
Out like twenty dollar crack hos,
Who're fakin' all the passion throws!
XP Windows
Gasoline flows
You don't need a minivan,
To haul around your kids though

Oh, down beer, throw up
Hang around and grow up
Know what - really sucks?
(a) DUI and a towed truck
Buy cars - 5 stars
Life's goal - get nailed!
Entails - pet wails
LOVE your lover; never fails!
Have some kids
The clock has stuck six!
Eat brunch - read up
Have pride, people!
Even when you're beat up
Girls wearin' purple
Lookin' for that rifle
Don't follow me, son
Take the road to freedom

Ah get bored, soft porn
Hot pants, romance, take a chance
Impressed, depressed?
Take the suck from success
Ease on - teach 'em - five gifts
Taste, see, hear this
Feelin' nauseated,
From smelling all of the bulls***
Save your soul
With that rock 'n roll!
Always jump when it's scary
Lights on in the stairways
No swear airways
Seagulls on the fairways
This song is almost done
Remember have fun
The plan won't work
If tooth fairies get you hair raised!

Fantastic job on a very hard OS to parody. Nearly killed me when I did it, yet you've inspired me to try again.

what john said, except trying it myself
TJC - September 21, 2006 - Report this comment
What alvin said... also really appreciate the links... makes it much more relatable with a quick to click ref. the OS/OL!

Jack, I was just looking (and listening to) this OS the other and thinking about trying it...and that's as far as I got, because I had no idea exactly WHAT I would try with it...lol...Nice job ~ ~ ~

wonderful update on the original jack - and the video take-off of the OS's original video (with all those big cards) would be a piece of cake too (with dip and chips from Frito Lay) - you should do it - 555

Fabulous stream-of-consciousness writing here, Jack....as Stu said, a wonderful update. 555

That's the phrase I was looking for, Jack - stream of conciousness. I would have no idea where to start on this one, so really good making sense of it. 5's

Thanks Matthias & John B & Alvin & TJC &Paul & AFW & PMS & Ann & Merry & Stu & Kristof & Pat & Lionel & this & character.

John: I'll check out your first parody; I saw the second one.

TJC: Thanks for checking out the links. I tried to find Dylan's version to link, but to no avail.

Paul: I had completely forgotten about this OS until a few of the lyrics popped into my head the other day. I Googled them and found this.

AFW: While the direction and subject matter changes quite a bit here, taken individually the lines make a fair amount of sense. I suppose Bob told himself that too, lol.

PMS: So far, the Rainy Day Voter #111 hasn't showed up.

Ann: Not sure what you were trying to say there, but that link is dead.

Stu: TMK I've never seen the video, and have zero idea how to make a decent one. A recording isn't out of the question though.

Kristof and Pat: Indeed it was; nothing was re-written after completetion (though proof-checking better would have caught the "you" in the last line that should have been "your", grrr...)

Lionel: Is that pronounced with one or two syllables? ;-)

Stuart McArthur - October 20, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) see above, and I'd be amazed if you haven't seen the video, Jack - it's a classic, circa 1965, in black and white, Bob's standing in a NY alleyway with dockworkers walking around behind him, looking at the camera, holding up a hundred or so cards with keywords from the song, and he tosses each one away after the song-over passes it

but what I really like in this one was you showing off your quirky imagination, with unexpected gets like "Sandwich with no mayonnaise" and "Seagulls on the fairways" - very clever

(SOTM) Where do you get your inspiration? I gotta find that connection. Very unique and witty.
wannabemustangjockey - October 29, 2006 - Report this comment
SOTM - as soon as I watched a YouTube video of the OS, I immediately realized where Weird Al got the inspiration for his song "Bob", written entirely in palindromes and done exactly the same way Dylan did, cards and all. Nicely done.

Sotm-Another Dylan song this round! Not very familiar with the OS, but I was able to listen while singing along and it worked for me.
Stuart McArthur - October 29, 2006 - Report this comment
just had to have a reread of this before I award it 5 votes - it just occurred to me that eminem was probably influenced by this - I've always wanted to do this (love the OS) but have never known where to start - for finding a place to start alone Jack you get my respect, but wonderful execution as well

(SOTM) Bwahahahahaha! That's so random! There probably is a real meaning to this, but as I can't find it, I'll just say it's random! Pleas don't kill me.

(ABC) Reading it again, I can actually see the real context going on throughout it. Not as random as it looks.
Matthias - January 28, 2008 - Report this comment
Believe it or not, I also see what Agrimorfee is seeing, it does actually make a lot of sense. It's like describing the world of today, and why it's such a bad place to live. Although you may not have meant it this way, it's actually a pretty deep parody.
Red Ant - January 28, 2008 - Report this comment
Thanks Aggy and Matt. This parody tries to fit a lifetime's worth of experiences into a two minute song. The verses progress from the view of a young Ant to me 20 years from now ("Seagulls on the fairways" - I dislike golf, but you never know - ditto on the kids...)

(ABC) see twice above - awesome effort Jack - proven by the fact that noone else has managed to do this OS that I recall - so it's a tough challenge that you met beautifully

Thanks to all the L round entrants. Cat: Me, a guidance counselor? Hahahaha!

If I can get rid of the damned echo in Audacity, this might be my next recording...
